Yum! I don’t need to care about whether their menu is gluten-free, I DO care whether their food tastes good – and it does!! We ordered the french toast and the (vegetarian) biscuits and gravy. The french toast was superb, with a light crust of visible egg on the bread, and a perfectly sweet (but not overly sweet) topping of blackberry sauce and honey. As for the biscuits and gravy, the biscuits weren’t as fluffy as I would ideally prefer but I’ll give them a pass since they tasted fine *and* because the gravy was vegetarian and very flavorful. We also bought two cookies to-go that are quite good – I really like their thin cookies. We live half an hour away but the eye surgery center I occasionally visit is in Mt Vernon so I plan to be a regular on the days when I’m in town.

This is the first time I’ve eaten here and I loved it. I haven’t had biscuits and gravy in 3 years since I found out I had Celiac’s; it was so delicious. And the French toast was yummy with the berry compote. Thank you for making such great gluten free food!!

I have Celiac disease, and it was so nice to go to a restaurant and not worry about cross contamination. The biscuit breakfast sandwich was amazing! I haven’t had a gluten free biscuit that good in my life. We also got some bread and baked goods to go, all of which have been delicious. I wish I lived closer so I could go regularly.

—Awesome to find a fantastic menu with excellent numerous vegan options in Mount Vernon. What a surprise. The number of menu items was the perfect amount for lots of choices but not too big to confuse. The only issue…standing in line waiting to order 17 minutes listening to a rambling person figure out the menu instead of knowing what she and her dining partner wanted to order ahead of time—like we did. It helped the wait when the order taker rolled her eyes at me because she was going through the painful order process too—LOL. Then the food arrived 32 minutes later. Well plated, flavorful, and enough food for a quality lunch. The decor is unique with local art for sale. Definitely coming back.

Great, lowkey vibes. We got the pineapple caeser salad with bread (which was so good and flavorful!). The french toast had banana batter which was so good!! French toast that we like has been impossible until now, and the potato fingerlings were so good without any sauce at all. Definitely a new favorite, wish it was closer <3

Shambala bakery is one of the best places I’ve been to in awhile!! Everything they make is from scratch, they have so many vegan options and they serve breakfast till 4!! Their rosemary sourdough with avocado, rainbow omelet and side salad was to die for!! My girlfriend got the Gyro which was so good too.

I am dairy-free so I love that there is a vegan restaurant in Mount Vernon! They have kombucha on tap… The waitress was sweet and let me sample a few, and I got the blood orange. I also ordered the Real Cod Fish ‘n Chips, but by mistake of the waitress was served the Wish ‘N Chips (which is cauliflower breaded in panko). They made good on their error and I got to try both… Thanks Shambala! To my surprise, I liked the Wish (cauliflower) better! The coleslaw & fry sauce served with this was also delicious. Got a Lemon Cupcake with Lemon Frosting to-go… Happy tummy. Greasy meal, but hey what did I expect ordering fish and chips? Altogether good experience

I really hate posting this review, especially since they have so many vegan options, but the baked goods I had from here were the worst I have ever eaten. The cupcakes were extremely gummy and bland, the frosting on top was hard as a rock, the cookies were also rock hard as was the cookie sandwich. As far as the other food, the lentil soup we got was extremely spicy and not listed as such, and the biscuits and gravy was pretty meh. I hope this place steps it’s game up because I love the menu, but the taste is worse than the food I ate in the military chow halls.

We lucked out with a free parking spot by the water, with no time limit. There is a 3hr limit for parallel spots on the main Ave and side streets. There’s one table for 2ppl outside. About 6-8 tables inside.
We ordered at the counter – the grilled “cheeze” and the quiche were yum and yum!
The quiche didn’t photograph well but it was the better of the two imo. Next time I’ll try the GF french toast and bagels.
