Nice decor, fast friendly service, and a variety of menu items. Does this compare to what you find in the bay area or Los Angeles, maybe not, but its worth a try if you’re jonesing for Indian food.

We came on a Monday night which do our surprise and delight happened to be buffet night! Who doesn’t love a good buffet where you can try a little bit of many items. Everything was delicious! Some items were spicy hot but the flavors were worth the pain. I’m just weak. The fried fish that was served was especially yummy and I feel deserves more notoriety. Both my husband and myself were very pleased with it. He only really likes fish sticks and I prefer to catch it myself.

The experience is of a 5-Star dining establishment without the high price. From the minute you walk in the restaurant the scent of exotic flavors imbue the senses! Even better is when the delicious food hits your palette. Especially good is the Goat Curry and Tandoori Chicken! These dishes are available during their buffet on Saturday, during lunch service and Monday night, during dinner service. I’m hooked!

We’ve enjoyed Indian cuisine at many restaurants here in the US and abroad. The best thing about this restaurant was the service. Also worth noting is the cleanliness and decor, the easy atmosphere, and prices commensurate with other similar restaurants. The food, however, wasn’t as flavorful as we have had before. It wasn’t bad, by any stretch, but still not great.

We’ve been here a couple times now and it’s been excellent each time. The service is wonderful and the food is delicious! We enjoyed the brunch buffet this time and everything we tried was so good. Definitely get the mango lassi!

I visited Pismo Beach from the Bay Area and was craving for some good Indian food in areas nearby and decided to try Shalimar. The staff here is really friendly and inviting. This is a family owned restaurant where the owners try to make everyone comfortable. I saw several regular visitors being warmly greeted and welcomed by the owners. We dined for a dinner on a Thursday night and the restaurant was more than half full. We ordered Chicken 65, Garlic Naan, Cilantro Naan and Karahi chicken. The chicken 65 was better than lots of Indian places in the Bay area. The naan breads were soft and delicious. I would have preferred if the bell pepper and onion pieces in the Karahi chicken we’re smaller instead of the gigantic pieces, but nonetheless they tasted absolutely great. Most importantly, the service and interior environment were really amazing and made for a great dining experience. Highly recommended for trying Indian cuisine in the San Luis Obispo area.

We tried this restaurant for the first time over the weekend. Our waitress was great but the guy who actually served our food was awful. He slammed our food down, spilled it on the table not taking the time to clean it up and dropped food on the table and threw it back onto the plate. We ordered A LOT of dishes to try various things and have leftovers. The food was not great… Biryani was dry, tasteless naan, samosas arrived on old lettuce and we both had stomach issues afterwards. Expensive dinner…we won’t be returning.

We drove 30 miles just to get good Indian food but it was very disappointing, the biryani was ok, the lamb karahi was utter tasteless and the Lamb was hard and smelly. They should seriously considering having good chef to give the true Indian taste.
