Beautiful restaurant in ambience with plush seating and delicate lighting. Impeccable service and food was incredibly delicious. We have eaten alot of Indian all over the world and this place ranked very high for us. The onion bhaji was light and tasty, pompadoms and mango, lime chutney was complimentary and tasty. Lamb vindaloo was the perfectly spiced and heat that built up. The chicken hyderabadi curry was balanced too. A perfect dinner experience and highly recommend.

We went to Shakinah with my family on a Sunday night. The place was not too crowded, the environment very classy and nice and discreete music. We ordered a number of plates, but can’t remember all tge names:mixed grill quite spicey but tasty, chicken biryani very good and generous, paratha with wholemeal flour super good, a spinach and chocken plate (suundwala?) and two types of dhal super tasty. All food is from Nothern India. Overall the food was great, the service excellent and the environment super nice. I have been in Malta for one year a d I think this has been the best restaurant in Malta! Cocktails are also great and not too boozy. We paid 117 euros in 3,pretty decent for tge quality and big portions.

Shakinah is a beautiful restaurant with modern and chic decor. The food is full of flavour, a large menu to choose from and large portions. The cocktails are delicious with my favourite being the mango mojito. Everything comes out piping hot and served beautifully. The staff are l very friendly and efficient. They were great to help us with recommendations. The cheese naan is absolutely delicious. We went here 2 nights out when on holidays in Malta which we never do! Would definitely recommend. It gets busy so best to book.

One of the best authentic Indian restaurants I have been in my life ! It’s pretty hard finding a good Indian especially when you cook it yourself , but this place had matched up to my standards exceedingly well! The flavours were immaculate! Full of flavour! My favourite was the tandoori mixed grill, packed with sensational seasonings and tasted great! The chicken was also superb! It was spicy with beautiful flavours and the fresh coriander made the whole dish come to light! Lastly the venue. Stunning interior and decor ! Very friendly staff, shout out to Robert for also serving good vibes and non alcoholic drinks off the menu! Will defo go again!

It was very busy upon arrival, mostly by locals. The restaurant is very big and has many seats however was near fully booked so ‘book in advance’ if you’re planning to visit. We were sat down around 15 minutes late, starters were okay, chicken was great soft. Mains wasn’t hitting the spot for my group, just wasn’t spicy enough and lacked taste. Decor is really nice, dark and modern. Definitely on the expensive side. However service was great, our waiter was nice and they offered an anniversary cake for my parents (paid).

I visited May 2024 for a lunch.
Having dined at the old Shakinah some time before covid this was my first visit back to the island and I had to try the ‘new’ location in Ta’ Xbiex.
I met a friend there for lunch who very confidently recommended the Chicken Tikka Masala, which is a dangerous thing to do to a Punjabi man who has cooked this many times.
And all I can say is it shut my prideful mouth right up. It was so tasty and so full of flavour, I could have eaten plate after plate. You could tell the love and care that was put into that meal.
The restaurant itself feels so much more than a a restaurant, it’s a concept, a vibe so to speak. The decor and layout has been carefully and tastefully worked out it’s a perfect mix of comfort and opulence. It truly is beautiful inside, lots of photo spots if you want that perfect selfie. There is a window through to the kitchen where you can check out tue chef at work, I say chef but he’s really working magic back there.
The service is excellent also should add they make great cocktails :). Will definitely go back in my next trip back to Malta.

This restaurant is a gem in Malta. Me and my partner enjoyed some paneer butter masala with some rice, garlic naan and sweet potato fries. Everything was cooked to perfection and was delicious. I could not fault the service and the vibe within the restaurant itself. Would definitely visit again during another visit to Malta!

We had dinner at Shakinah, and the food was really good. The onion bhajis, chana masala, pilau rice, and butter naan bread were all excellent. The ambience is pleasant, with dim lighting that creates a nice atmosphere, and the staff were attentive to detail. However, the toilets could benefit from more frequent cleaning. After dinner, it’s great to take a walk along Ta’ Xbiex front, which adds to the overall experience. The prices are mid-range, though slightly higher than other Indian restaurants in Malta, but you’re also paying for the atmosphere. Recommended overall.

The atmosphere in the restaurant is very welcoming. We were immediately shown to a very comfortable seating area.
Few short minutes later a waiter brought the menus to our table.
We were asked if we wanted to order any drinks while we were looking through the menus, which we did.
Going on to the food; in my opinion, the main ingredient whether it was lamb, prawns, or another, were just drowning in thick sauce.
Price compared to portions (and make up as explained above) are not cheap.
I have had much better curry in other places maybe not in Malta but it’s not an excuse for a “Curry House”.
Would I go again, maybe,
