We went for an evening of live music on the patio which was absolutely lovely! The cracklins were DELICIOUS and frankly the #1 item on the menu besides the cider of course. The mac and cheese could have been cheesier, but I thought the ribs were great, and I loved their variety of BBQ sauces.

Service was somewhat slow on a not-so-busy night but otherwise friendly!

A decent little barbecue spot with some great barbecue sauces. We enjoyed both of our orders, a pulled pork sandwich and the smoked sausage. Extra sauce is $2, but honestly the best part about this experience is the sauce so you might as well order an extra one. It isn’t going to be life-changing barbecue, but for being paired alongside some ciders this is a solid experience

Right inside Stowe Cider is a restaurant named Shakedown Street. A bar atmosphere with simplistic table seating as well as bar seating. You can look right into Stowe cider and their operations, which is normally filled with patrons buying in bulk. Shakedown has a limited menu with some bbq items and appetizers. Definitely suggest the smoked and fried wings with dry rub. The large pulled pork nachos could feed an army. The tacos were very good.

We’re in town from Ohio and we stopped at this location for a quick bite before going back on our sightseeing adventure. OMG!! The cracklins are absolutely mouthwateringly delicious! I told my servers (we went two days in a row) that they remind me of my mother’s. Everything we ordered was fantastic. I wish we lived closer. I’d be here everyday. Highly recommended. Great staff!

We had a wonderful experience at Shakedown Barbecue and Stowe Cider. We arrived at 7 PM on a Saturday night and we’re quickly seated. The wait staff and chef were highly knowledgeable about gluten-free options and were very accommodating regarding our family’s allergies. After dinner, the owner, Mark, gave us a brief tour of the cider production. The food and cider were delicious; we can’t wait to return. PS. The nachos were the kind that is put together and then baked in the oven & the cheesy gooeyness that makes them the best! On top of all of this, Tim Reynolds was playing on the stage in the next room over!

The wings, drinks, meats, Mac and cheese, baked beans, coleslaw — everything was amazing! This bbq is more complex, for the advanced pallet. The baked beans were smokey, like mezcal — great for adults but not as kid friendly. Same with the Mac and cheese – it was a more advanced flavor profile than your typical heavy creamy Mac and cheese.

I also had the gummy bear infused cider which I loved, not really sweet, very tart, perfectly balanced.

To start with, our server was incredibly polite and kind — she was the only highlight of the evening. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about (what I assume was) the manager. His attitude was somewhere between dismissive and outright rude.

I ordered a salad that looked like it had been picked straight from the field and dumped onto the plate. Not chopped, not seasoned — just raw leaves pretending to be a meal. For the price, you’d expect at least a knife to have been involved at some point.

When I politely asked for a to-go box and mentioned I wanted to place a new order, this gentleman (if we can call him that) snatched the plate away without a word and walked off. Charming.

I then ordered a burger, clearly stating I would be dining in. The server acknowledged that with grace. And yet — surprise! — the same manager returned, proudly presenting the burger in a to-go box. A subtle hint, perhaps, that I was no longer welcome?

They later said they’d apply a discount since “I didn’t enjoy the meal,” though I hadn’t even complained about the food directly. I guess they figured it out on their own — not exactly Sherlock-level deduction.

To be clear, the issue wasn’t the price or even the mediocre food — it was the total lack of respect. If the food had been half as warm as the attitude, maybe I’d have stayed.

If amazing was only enough to say! My husband and I love BBQ food; our favorite place (used to be in Stowe), closed 2 years ago. We have now found our favorite BBQ place, and it just so happens to be at the best Hard Cider establishment in Vermont! The atmosphere was divine. There is different areas including outside with live music, the bar, and a few dining areas. The cider on tap is a must, there is nothing that compares to the crispness of the cider; pairs well with fall coming! The food is hands down amazing; fresh, hot, and you can tell by taste that a lot of hard work has gone into it. The BBQ sauces, so taste worthy (my husband wants to buy it). The service is friendly, helpful, and quick! We will be regulars, thank you for such an amazing spot for BBQ and good ole Vermont hard cider!
(My husband really would love to get some BBQ for home )

Oh my god the wings and the “cracklins” is the best food I have ever had. Both are so amazing and delicious. I would have posted photos but we ate them all so fast. So here is a picture of the bar. Also we went on a Friday and the live music was so good. I cannot recommend enough. FYI it doesn’t open till 4pm even though google says it opens at noon.
