Hip, counter-serve chain for gourmet takes on fast-food classics like burgers & frozen custard.

First time at Shake Shack Oak Brook and probably the last as for the premium price, one can get a higher quality burger at a nearby steak joint with sides for less. The kiosks allow customers to order fast-casual and customize each item separately, where everything costs extra $$. A Shack burger, crinkle cut fries, and a Holiday shake sets you back about $25. A flat top dog $5, cheese fries $6 SmokeShack $15, add drinks beer and wine $7 each and easily a $60+ meal for three. There was ample parking and it’s hidden behind some office building if coming from the mall and not the easiest to find on GPS. The counter staff was most helpful with ordering and tables were readily available.

Loved the burgers and food since 2018 or so but the quality has gone down hill. My family will not be dining here and here’s why:
1. The potato bun is tiny, the contents of the burger/sandwich are falling apart AND the bun is a squishy mess. There’s practically no bun compared to a few months ago.
2. The burger meat was lackluster. Advertised as 4 oz before cooking but this was more around the 2 oz range. We did not order well done but the burger was dry and flavorless.
3. Open bag for takeout is a choice and a bad one at that. Temperature is out the window.
4. Fries were ok; they weren’t fried, golden crinkly fries that they used to be (literally a few months ago, around September 2025).
5. Unrelated to food, but this place was slammed yesterday 12/21/2025, and there were not enough cooks in the kitchen: lines out the door, 10+ groups waiting for takeout. I didn’t have to wait long but I noticed a lot of irritated customers that did.
Even my kids are asking for BURGER KING instead of Shake Shack’s “gourmet” fast casual food.

If this chain blew as much money on their as they do their storefronts, they’d get my business a lot more. I was at an event at the Doubletree in November, which meant that this was the only restaurant in walking distance. The chicken sandwiches and burgers are small for what they charge, although the fries are good and their beer selection is good for a fast casual place. They really need to rethink their touch-screen ordering as well: backing up out of items can confuse you no end. It’s not that the food is bad; there just isn’t enough of it for what they charge.

Shake shack is a true fast food fan favorite and great seatings for a date night or family outing even a friend get together. Coming inside ,it was so packed. The place is very clean and condiments and utensils were stocked and beverage fountain was spotless. Tables spotless. The place is horrendously cold even someone who loves the A/C in establishments during summer heats this place over does it. Bring a hoodie or sweater. It’s so hard to enjoy hot food that got cold fast because of how cold it was inside and that really takes away from the flavor of the food and experience. The food presentation was almost right on spot but the shakes tasted like they had been sitting for 20 minutes before bringing them out and even the whip cream was melted. 7$ per shake and it wasn’t cold considering the room temperature not great. The flavor besides it being cold was nicely seasoned and garnished. Wrapped nicely but the sides the cheese bacon fries are nice but nothing that wows. The fries need something extra little seasoning. The fried pickles breading was not that great it fell apart a lot so it wasn’t a great bite. The sides are meant to tie the meal and it didn’t give that extra wow factor. When you come in there is only one cashier and 3 or 4 computers to order your food. I absolutely hate the no human experience you can’t even ask the computer how you want the burger cooked there is no option for it so that’s not great and Im personally not a fan of little pink inside my burger. Other than that this place gives a welcoming vibe very upbeat but lacks low playing music to elevate the room. Giving it a 3 bc the cold really stole the experience of hot fresh food. The food came out 30 minutes and wasn’t that hot. The new banana pudding shake doesn’t taste like banana pudding so that was a -1.

This was my first time there, I guess you order everything separately. I got a bacon cheeseburger, fries, and a Oreo shake. The Oreo shake was so good. I will definitely return for that. There was ample parking. It’s behind a big building so the GPS kinda got me lost. It was very clean inside the bathrooms were clean, you order yourself on the self-serve machines, unless you’re paying cash. There was someone always directing people which was great.

Shake Shack consistently delivers solid quality when you’re craving a premium fast-food burger. The ShackBurger is juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right—plus the potato bun is a nice touch that adds softness without falling apart. Their crinkle-cut fries are perfectly crispy, especially when loaded with cheese, and the shakes are thick, creamy, and just the right amount of sweet.
The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is the price—it’s a bit on the high side for fast food, and portion sizes could be a little more generous. That said, you’re paying for better ingredients and a more upscale vibe than your typical burger joint. Overall, it’s a great spot for a quick bite that feels a step above the usual.
Would definitely return—especially for those shakes!

First time eating at this shake shack location. We got here at 8pm on a Monday and it was packed! Probably because there was a big group here. The double shack burger was delicious as usual. The edges of the burger this time it was nicely toasted and crunchy.
I went to smash burger recently and this definitely is better. The cheese French fries were good. The cheese could’ve been more cheesier.
The bathroom smelled really nice and it was clean!

The food was delicious, burgers are an on the smaller side however satisfying. The sweet buns complement the grilled patties well and I especially liked the mayo combination they used on there burgers. Fries were perfectly fried nice and crispy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside. Before I end the review wanted to add that the shakes are also really good and that it is kid friendly and spacious inside.

This Shake Shack is clean, modern, and just straight-up nice to be in. The kiosks were super easy to use (even if you’re dumb like me), the vibes were good, and the wait wasn’t bad at all. Food? Slapped. Burger was juicy, fries were crispy, everything hit. Solid spot to pull up to when you’re craving something good. 10/10 recommend. Please promote the chef who made my food
