Imagine if Apple’s products worked terribly. Shake Shake seems committed to the dining experience—beautiful table tops, retro lunch trays, crisp interiors and even immaculate restrooms — at the expense of the dining itself. Burgers and fries way behind Five Guys. Chocolate shake was fine. I’d planned to catch up on work, but alas, no internet and located in a Verizon dead zone. Won’t be back. Ever.

This is my 2nd visit in Shake Shack – Chapel Hill this year, and my first time ordering using the mobile app for take out. I ordered the Black Truffle Burger again but this time, with double patties & cheery peppers. I’m not interested in Shake Shack’s other burgers – they just seem ordinary to me. The Black Truffle Burger is the real deal and the #1 reason I will keep returning to Shake Shack.
The #2 reason is the Thai Iced Tea Shake, which is now my new favorite milkshake. The Thai tea flavor combined with the creaminess of milkshake and whip cream is just super delicious, and the amount is just right.
I also ordered the Black Truffle Crinkle fries. Personally, I’m not a big fan of crinkle-cut fries, but the dust of parmesan cheese and the yummy truffle sauce make these fries extra special.
This Shake Shack has a nice outdoor area, and it looks pretty casual to eat there. It was a busy Saturday lunch time but I was aboe to find parking. The only issue I had this time was the attitude of the employee who brought me my order when I came to pick it up. It seemed that she wasn’t happy to serve. You can tell that Chick Fil’A still has superior customer service.
Other than that, I thought the mobile app was easy to use, and the order was available to pick up within 10 min. Would definitely use the app again to order next time.

We ate here around 2pm on a Sunday. Pleasantly surprised they weren’t supper crowded.
We walked in and looked at the overhead menu. Took us a few minutes to see the 4 kiosks to place your order. We tried to order with special instructions for condiments but the computer didn’t allow that. After we ordered realized we forgot to order any Shakes. Maybe next time.
The dining area was clean, we grabbed our table number and sat at a 2 seater. Got the napkins, Mayo, Mustard, salt & pepper and ketchup. The ketchup dispenser ran out so I only got a tiny container and a half. Husband went to the counter to see if they could fill up a couple more tiny cups. Girl said there were some ketchup packets. Ok.
A few minutes later our order arrived. Two Shack burgers, 2 fries, 2 drinks. With tip about $34!
We had the hardest time opening the mayo packet, finally got it open. The burgers were extremely thin but tasted alright. Fries were just ok, not hot. My Root Beer was really good.
After we finished, we cleared the table and threw the trash away.
Not impressed; food was too pricey, burger too thin, and really didn’t think anyone did much to be tipped.
Will just go to Freddy’s for a hotter meal at much less cost.

The food is great. I like the S’roomburger. Today we also tried the vegetable burgers with some fries. Prepared fresh and great taste. The staff were nice. There is only one thing to keep me from coming back soon. The customers.

Tried this place for the first time today with a friend who spoke highly of them, and overall really enjoyed the experience. I liked the convenience of ordering kiosks, and the food was very fresh and out to us quickly. The bacon cheese fries were awesome, and the bacon wasn’t overcooked (as is often the case with those). The strawberry milkshake was the most delicious one I’ve ever had, and I drank every bit of it. The burger was also pretty good – my only critique is that my burger was a little undercooked, especially for a thin patty. Fast service is great, but a few more minutes on the grill would have made a good burger great. The restaurant was clean, nice atmosphere, and overall well worth it!
