We have been here many years ago and the atmosphere in the restaurant has become more stylish. (The name of the restaurant is different, so maybe the owners are different…but it was definitely the same Kauai restaurant.) The restaurant is small but has a Hawaiian feel with the decorations and music. We had the teriyaki chicken and tempura ahi poke. There was a long wait for the food to come out, but the food and taste were satisfying. The tempura (this is not tempura but shrimp katsu, right?) Many restaurants, like KaneBBQ, serve katsu that are pre-made and reheated, so the batter is always tough and the skin inside the mouth peels off, but the katsu here was freshly fried and crispy, which was very surprising. The teriyaki sauce here has a crispy soy sauce flavor, not the American-style sweet sauce with a strong thickening effect, just like authentic Japanese teriyaki sauce. The wait time was very long, which was understandable since it seemed that everything is made upon receiving an order. The food here was small portions, and the ahi was thawed and dry, but the delicious teriyaki sauce was well mixed with the ahi and it was very tasty. I would definitely try other dishes again.

I got upset by their loco moco. The patty is fine. The egg that isn’t runny I could live with, but I got upset by the little amount of gravy that was put on it. Please next time put more gravy with your loco moco. If I have 3 scoops of rice I would like to have gravy to put with my rice.
However, we did like the teriyaki chicken.
Update:
There was so little gravy that I ended up just eating meat, egg, and plain rice. Very dry overall. Would not recommend their loco moco, unless they provide more gravy.

Food was great, chicken was perfectly marinated and tender. The Mac salad was just made right and portion was spot on. Their malasadas was a great treat, I’m sure I’ll be back again!!!

I want to love this place. That doesn’t mean it happens unfortunately. 45+ min wait after ordering while I watch food sir like it’s a buffet. The didn’t take a name, give a number… anything to ID whose food was whose. Nowhere to sit while we wait. Can’t go to car, etc since they didn’t communicate with you. 1/3 + of what I asked for on the mend they didn’t have. Last time over a year ago I was here. Same story. Super SAD

This is a small little restaurant tucked away in the corner of a car park you will miss if you don’t notice. I ordered the Filipino Style BBQ Plate and 2 pork skewers. The portions and taste were good but the thicker parts of the pork skewers (from the BBQ Plate) were not cooked. I wish they make it better next time.

This place was one of the very first locations I ate at when I first moved to Oregon back in 2003. The food is fresh, consistent, and affordable. I love to keep coming back for the nostalgia.

Their food is good. Regular stuff like loco moco is what I normally get but tonight I went for the cheese burger which also to my delight came with crinkle fries that were amazing!!! Nice folks making great food.
Update: food still great. Had the fried chicken and kalua pig for dinner night. Fantastic!

The best chicken I’ve had in the greater Portland area, thighs, katsu, you name it, it’s delicious. Crispy, tender juicy, all the sauces are incredible, the Mac salad????? fire. EAT HERE, you will not regret it 🙂

Very small, more about take-out and catering. After years of living in the area I was surprised to finally see this place open …
Definitely wanted to give it a try so I’ve gone a couple of times. Staff is nice and friendly, food has been solid and decent thus far. They make the traditional Hawaiian Mac too – which is up to par, no shredded carrots, tastes like it should but maybe a touch less flavor punch (maybe lack of salt?), maybe light on the ingredient so it’s not heavy. Tried their ribs and chicken, pretty darn good, very similar to local 808, Roxy and Best Teriyaki but with a little better pricing, also tasting like it should but with a little less of that magical flavor being lighter on the sauces … Ribs and chicken were cooked just right, seasoning wasn’t heavy and there were fried shrimp in the combo instead of veggies, which was a nice taste. Although I do like some veggies. Decent to average portion size, only thing really missing is a sauce bar or extra sauces on the table like most other places offer. They have extra teriyaki sauce, but you have to ask, not sure if they have hot Sriracha rooster sauce. Most of the meals and meats are made to order so it takes a little longer since they aren’t sitting around in a warming pan all day. If you’ve got the itch for some decent teriyaki or Hawaiian … this place is pretty good. Solid 4 out of 5.
