As soon as I walked inside I know this was going to be something special. I ordered the lamb dum biryani, and shared an order of plain naan with my daughter. (We wound up asking the cook/waitress/server for two more plain naan orders because it was that good — black sesame seeds to die for.) The biryani had flavors I could only have imagined being that good: whole cardamom pods, cloves and peppercorns. The caramelized onions were the special touch that brought everything together. This dish could feed three very easily. Too bad we were only two diners. At a restaurant like this one I think it’s best to order family style and share around the table. If I could have I would have washed the dishes as well as paid for my meal just to rub shoulders with such talented cooks.

Had an amazing experience ! The mandi biryani and dum biryani were full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The chicken kabab and chicken malai were so soft and juicy. The beef kebab was also very delicious.
The hospitality was excellent — it truly felt like home. Owner is so sweet and kept asking if everything was good. Such a warm and welcoming place. Highly recommend! ❤️

We had an absolutely amazing dinner at Shahi Palawan in Vernon! From start to finish, the experience was outstanding. The food was bursting with authentic flavors. The Biryani was fragrant and perfectly spiced, the naan was soft and fresh out of the tandoor, the kebabs were juicy and flavorful, and the malai boti simply melted in the mouth. Every dish was prepared with such care that it felt like a true taste of home-style cooking with a restaurant touch.
The ambiance was warm, cozy, and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for family and friends to enjoy a meal together. What really stood out was the kindness and hospitality of the owners. They treated us not just as customers, but like valued guests. Their friendly attitude and genuine care made the whole experience even more memorable.
If you’re in Vernon and looking for delicious, authentic food served in a welcoming environment, Shahi Palawan is a must-visit. We will definitely be coming back again and again. Highly recommended!

We dined in at Shahi Pakwan, which was the only halal restaurant we found in Vernon during our visit from Vancouver. We ordered their signature Beef Dum Biriyani, and it tasted so good. The atmosphere and the service were nice. It may also be the only halal restaurant we have found yet in BC where there is no music and instead, Quran recitation is played.

The best place in Vernon for Indian and Pakistani food ❤️. We loved it so much. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, and the interior had a nice antique style. We really appreciate the lovely couple who serve such amazing food here. We came from Ontario, and if we visit vernon again, we will definitely come back to eat here. If you’re looking for the best food stop in Kelowna or Vernon, this is your go to place ❤️

I was rolling my eyes a bit at the guy that said ‘Unforgettable flavours’ but the food here is really something. Even the humble popadoms were amazing. Dal Makhani was amazing, even better with a bit of raita stirred in, garlic naans delicious – everything had so much flavour going on and they got the heat just right.. Friendly prompt service but don’t believe her when she says the rice isn’t enough for two ha ha. A slightly austere atmosphere with the sounds of prayer in Mecca for background music but actually very relaxing. We spent $60 for two and had enough left to take home for dinner tomorrow. Muslim-owned/run so no alcohol.

We ordered food from this restaurant — asked for two beef Karaie , but they charged us for three. When we asked why, they said the order was entered wrong. We didn’t argue because the food was already packed. But when we opened it to eat, the taste was awful. The biryani and everything else had no flavor at all. My kids couldn’t even eat it. It was a total waste of money and a very disappointing experience. I don’t recommend this place at all.don’t waste your money here

An amazing place to go and eat at any time of the day with great affordable options that are definitely a good “bang for your buck”, with some of the larger meals being able to feed multiple people with a price less then a meal for one at other establishments. Service is great for any stay whether you are eating in or waiting for take out which doesn’t take longer than 15 minutes. Pleasant and relaxing atmosphere.

Clean and inviting place, but had to wait 30 minutes for our food on a normal, slow, Tuesday night. Staff were busy with their to go orders and seemed to forget we were even there inside. All we had at our table for those 30 minutes was water, and nobody checked on us.
We even ordered naan so couldn’t that have been brought out at least?
Food seemed ok when I ate it cold at home but I’m sure would have been much better warm and freshly cooked.
