Outstanding experience at Shahi Nihari & Chopsticks!

We recently hosted our team outing for around 50 people, and everything—from parking accessibility to private dining arrangements—was extremely well managed and stress-free.

The food was absolutely amazing. Our menu included nihari, chicken tikka boti, veg Hakka noodles, garlic chicken in sauce, chicken biryani, along with tea and accompaniments, and every single dish was flavorful, fresh, and perfectly prepared. The variety worked beautifully for a mixed crowd, and the quality was consistent across all items.

The staff was courteous, attentive, and very accommodating for a group of our size, which made the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. The private dining setup was ideal for team bonding and conversations.

Overall, everything was perfect—great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended for team dinners, group events, or family gatherings. We’ll definitely be coming back!

My friend told me to try Shahi Nihari date buffet initially I feel it’s expensive but as per high recommendation I went with my whole family people of 20. Iftar buffet was outstanding everything was very fresh and tempting especially thier bbq , Nihari and Chinese. This is the first time I try Shahi Nihari food and I’m glad I came. My daughter is picky eater and I’m so thankful to the gentleman brought complementary French fries for her and I came to know he is the owner of Shahi Nihari Mahmood Lakha. He also told me about his party hall which is pretty for small parties as I have a big family and we do lot of parties definitely will come back the server suleman was very good server. We would love to come back for dinner after Ramdan also love their ambience and the picture place which they nicely decorated for Ramdan

Indo pak restaurant in Villa park. Food was decent but all of us ended up having stomach upset the next day. Taste was pretty good with authentic spicy food. Some of the dishes are pricy but mostly reasonable. They need to improve their parking which feels like a tight squeeze especially with snow in winter. Wish also they had better interior decoration.

If you’re fasting and considering whether to try Shahi Nihari’s buffet for Iftar, please don’t make the mistake I did. This was, without exaggeration, the worst experience I’ve ever had.
The buffet items were cold — not lukewarm, but genuinely cold. Not a single dish had proper flavor. The biryani had a strange aftertaste, and to make matters worse, there was uncooked meat being served. That alone was unacceptable.

The service was just as disappointing. Staff were inattentive and failed to refill trays in a timely manner. Several Iftar items ran out and were not replaced, leaving guests waiting and frustrated. To top it off, the owner’s attitude was arrogant and dismissive, which only added to the negative experience.

Overall, this was an extremely disappointing and frustrating Iftar. I would not recommend it to anyone.

First time trying them & their food was wonderful. The interior of the restaurant was nice too. I really enjoyed the butter chicken & chicken 65, just didn’t like the 20% tip if it’s 5 or more people, but good food.

We recently attended the Iftar buffet and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience.

The food lacked flavor across the board, and several items were barely warm. The Chinese dishes were especially bland, and the chicken was evidently undercooked. Stations were not being refilled in a timely manner — we waited nearly five minutes just to get naan. For a buffet, especially during Iftar when timing matters, this level of service is unacceptable.

What made the experience worse was the response from management. When we tried to provide constructive feedback, the owner was dismissive and rude, insisting the food was perfect rather than listening to customer concerns. At one point, he told us to “take your money and go.”

This isn’t about getting money back — it’s about quality, accountability, and customer service. If you are charging premium buffet prices, the food and hospitality need to reflect that. I hope they take feedback more seriously moving forward and improve both their food quality and service standards.

Edit:
In response to the owners comment below. You were the that got mad not use. You were arrogant and that’s the reason we got frustrated. Everyone was complaining but no one was getting up to say anything. You have other comments below that are echoing our concerns. The amount you’re charging for the menu you’re providing and quality (lack of rather) is ridiculous. Happy to make the same menu and have your chef and yourself eat to let you know how things supposed taste. We were your regulars and visited once a month and ample amount of catering orders from you guys over the years. Your food has always been inconsistent but service has been good. This was the last straw…

Loved the new ambience — the updated décor and furniture make the place feel so much more vibrant. We tried the buffet, and the food was excellent with plenty of variety. Whenever we visit Chicago, this restaurant is a must for us, and the recent changes make it even better.

One small area for improvement is the grilled fish — it isn’t always as fresh as the rest of the dishes. But the overall experience still feels wonderful, especially because the uncle at the reception is incredibly nice and polite, and the uncle at the omelet station is always so friendly. Their warmth really makes the place feel like home

Highly recommend.
