Shahi Darbar cuisine consists of dishes developed in the medieval Indo-Persian world at the centres of the Mughal Empire. It represents a combination of South Asian cuisine with the cooking styles and recipes of Central Asian and Iranian cuisine. Our cuisine is strongly influenced by the Persianate and Turkic cuisine of Central Asia, the region where the early Turko-Mongol Mughal emperors originally hailed from, and it has in turn strongly influenced the regional cuisines of modern Northern India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The tastes vary from extremely mild to spicy and are often associated with a distinctive aroma and the taste of ground and whole spices.

The atmosphere was casual and family-oriented, with several families dining in, possibly due to the holiday. Seating was comfortable enough for a quick meal, and the service was straightforward: you order at the counter, take a seat, and your food is brought to your table once it’s warmed up. Most items are reheated, which seems typical for this kind of setup in the neighborhood.
We tried a few items, beef and chicken kababs, along with a couple of vegetable dishes and garlic naan. The portions come in small or large sizes, which is convenient if you want to sample a few different things.
The food arrived quickly, but overall, the flavors were average. The chicken kabab was decent though not memorable, while the beef didn’t quite match our taste. Everything seemed freshly reheated but lacked the depth and spice balance we usually expect from this type of cuisine.
That said, the restaurant may cater to a different regional Indian palate, perhaps more traditional to a specific area, so it might appeal to others even if it wasn’t quite to our liking.
In short, Shahi Darbar offers a clean, family-friendly setting and quick service, but the food is more ready-to-eat convenience than freshly prepared dining. It’s not a bad place by any means, just not one we’d personally rush back to.
Pros: Family-friendly, quick service, affordable portions.
Cons: Reheated dishes, average flavor, no longer buffet-style.
I wanted a samosa, but she didn’t listen to me properly as she was talking with someone else on the phone. I told her 3-4 times, but there was no response, so I didn’t bother to tell her again. After I finished my food, I told her that I had asked for a samosa, and she was like, “No, you haven’t told me.”
I also told her that she was on the phone, so how could she have listened to me? She denied being on the phone and said I should have called her, but I pointed out that she was screaming and talking on her phone. If there is a customer, how could she not listen and prioritize her phone conversation? I couldn’t even understand what she was speaking as the language was different.
This is so disappointing. With this type of employee, the business will go down. I will never come to this shop again where customers are not valued.
I hope the management addresses this issue to improve the customer service experience. Thank you.
