Really disappointing.
Tried this restaurant based on Google reviews but it’s difficult find anything positive to say about it. The lime pickle was very tasty but the rest of the food was quite bland, on the cold side and very greasy. The waiter initially plonked down the drinks on the table with a sigh, like it was too much effort.

I liked the food I had. Bad service: the waiter seemed annoyed, he was forgetting things, and it was not possible to pay separately. Very strange for the UK.

Never again. This is most certainly not an Indian restaurant. Onion bhaji undercooked flowery batter with no taste. Paneer dopiaza was a brown sludge with tiny chunks of paneer swimming in oil and tasted of nothing. Love dopiaza but it was nothing like a dopiaza. Onion rice swimming in grease, cheese naan that has never encountered a tandoor as was tasteless and undercooked. Chips were frozen and covered in black bits from what would be dirty oil.
The place is dark so much so we had to move tables to read the menu and it was freezing inside. For a Friday night of Valentines weekend we should have seen the red flag when it was quiet inside with few people. Never again

Beautiful food great service.
Manager was brilliant. Really polite and helpful.
Dealt superbly with a table of 6 young guys who were a bit boisterous and smashed a glass.
Defo will return.

I would strongly advise anyone of thinking of coming here (yes I am still in the restaurant) to think again!
We came here a couple of years ago and it was ok…however has gone significantly downhill. Should have realised as pretty empty at 8pm on a Friday night.
The service was ‘abrupt’ and rushed. The food was truly awful. As per other reviews, bland, watery and tasteless and what made it worse was the cost..£52 for me and my son. For me to get a few mushrooms in my balti it was £4! Only one beer and a lemonade, one course with a couple of poppadoms.
Safe to say we will not be returning and would suggest you do the same.

4.5 star review! however I should of read into the 1 star rating.
The server was just not wanting to be there he was not very welcoming. Plates and food basically thrown at you.
Food was just about edible, no flavour and curry very thin looked more like a soup.
Rice was like uncle Ben’s microwave rice. Naan was more pizza base.
Restaurant was freezing with no atmosphere.
Anyway will I recommend or go again that is a hard no .
£85 for 3 people fuming I actually paid for such a bad meal.

I’ve been a regular customer at Shaheens for many years, and I can attest that the quality of food, service and overall experience is always consistently excellent. I often enjoy a meal here with my family, and I regularly bring business visitors from overseas who are left with a fantastic impression of the culinary magic that is on offer at Shaheens.

The care taken by Adham who looks after front of house is truly exceptional, and in the kitchen under his mother’s expert leadership, many a fantastic dish is created. My own favourite is the Kashmiri Malayan – a hybrid fusion of flavours.

In terms of experience, and under the strapline, “Best Bhaji for miles”, a few years ago, my son was really interested in how the Onion Bhaji was made. Adham’s mother took time out of the kitchen to explain this and this is only one example of the personal touch which is highly appreciated.

In my view, you should look no further and book Shaheens today!

Absolutely appalling! Ordered for the first time to collect a take out. the order was late when we arrived anyways. When we got back there was one item missing and the containers were 1/3 full!!
Rang up and no apology or offer to send out another order. The person hung up on us and refused to do anything. Absolutely shocking & will not be ordering again. £60 for a measly meal

⚠️It was a really bad experience. I hope you think it through before you come!!!⚠️

The plates were just thrown at us, with absolutely no service at all! It was claimed to be Indian food, but after my friend tasted it, it was very unauthentic. The flatbread even had raisins in it and was sweet. It was just too ridiculous!

We were chatting and eating for about half an hour. Then a man came over and asked if we needed anything else. We said no, and he took away the extra plates and our cutlery. What the heck? I’ve never seen a restaurant like this before!

In another ten minutes, they will ask us if we want to stay or not. If we don’t, they will even take away our meals. Really, I’ve never seen anything like this. We paid the money, but in this way they drove us away? This waiter must have his brain squeezed by the door! Someone came earlier than us – it was a white elderly couple. They didn’t receive such “treatment”. There are a total of four people in the restaurant including us. They insisted that we have to sit close together. Really, if you don’t want to operate, you should just close the door. There are plenty of restaurants out there!!!

I seriously doubt that this is racial discrimination! My friend and I are Asians. The other tables are all white people, but only we have been treated this way. If you don’t want to be treated this way, please think it over before coming and don’t be like us!!!
