It is now called “Wally’s South 17.”
It’s still a great 5-Star place in my book.
Bartender was friendly and the drinks were great. Service and servers were good, typical relaxed up north atmosphere. We will be back again soon.
Ted the bartender is the best, and the food always consistently delicious. The various fish choices, as well as the steaks and her ribs. Desserts also excellent. A cozy, down to earth atmosphere. Our favorite restaurant in the Northwoods!
We waited 45 minutes for a table when we put in a reservation over 2 hours in advance. Let me be clear- this was NOT at the fault of the staff. The costumers here are some of the most inconsiderate diners I’ve ever experienced… people just sit and chat for over a half hour when they’ve already paid for their meal and the restaurant is so busy that there’s not even room to stand. No one likes those people… don’t be those people, just pay and leave so they can turn the tables over. That being said, the staff and customer service here are outstanding. I was so impressed with their patience. They really should get a sign that doesn’t condone hanging around for more than a few minutes once the bill is paid.
Overall, food was okay. It was too greasy for me. It really depends on what you order, though.
We shared the creme brulee, and it was really good.
I had an old fashioned. It was hand-muddled and very good.
They also have dessert drinks.
The menu looked pretty good, and the meals that we saw getting served looked pretty good also.
The place was very small (8-9 tables), and it looked like the owner put a lot of love into it.
I was expecting a “hole in the wall” place until I did a little research an hour before stopping in.
We visited on Sun., 9-02-2018. We would go back.
