Great spot on the river for lunch! Sat outside and it was beautiful out! Service was great. She had a beer in her hand ready for my husband every time he was ready. Food was good. Had the grilled ham and cheese with (kinda bland) potato salad and my husband has fries and a blt. Service was a little slow but it’s ok because it was so nice and breezy sitting outside just enjoying the river.

First time we went after reopening was great. Gator tail was awesome, crab cake platter was great along with the crab cake sandwich! We got our food fairly quickly quick was nice. Not very many people dining in so it was expected. The atmosphere is great if you’re into that sort of thing.
We decided to go back again a week later and everything was awful. The service was lack luster, we waited almost an hour to get gator tail which was over cooked and gross, the waiters had giving us a warning about the overcooked gator and asked if we wanted them to remake it but after waiting for some time already we just suffered through it. We thought it was a fluke so we tried again a week later and the gator tail was perfect other then the size which was significantly smaller the the other times which was disappointing. Anyways, place has potential if they can get it together! Trying again because we love the atmosphere and dining outside right next to the river is appealing to me and my family! Staff very friendly! Bathroom needs a good cleaning, the dock outside could use some fresh decking but otherwise we love shady oak!

Ohhhhhh my goodness! What a great place to go! The staff was super friendly, the atmosphere was nice, comfortable, welcoming, the view while eating was so pretty. The food was AMAZING!! The price was AMAZINGLY affordable…. 3 dinners, 2 appetizers, a sweet tea, water with lemon and 4 draft beers was $55. My daughter had clam strips, baked beans (her choice for the side dish) hush puppies was amazing! I had scallops and shrimp wrapped in bacon, onion rings and potato salad (my 2 sides of choice) & hush puppies… Amazing!!! My Sweetie Pie had coconut shrimp with a pineapple sauce/glaze with hush puppies and he chose Cole slaw…. We all cleaned our plates! We started with gator Bites and fried jalapeno poppers stuffed with cream cheese…. I’ve never had gator anything….. I’m a fan now! Super delicious!! If you have the opportunity to go here DO IT! It’s worth the try.

What a nice experience. Great food. So much food for the 3 of us and it was only 25 bucks. I couldn’t finish my meal. We had an awesome waitress, and as usual, I asked what her favorite thing for breakfast was. And she didn’t steer me wrong. So so good. Almost too much food. None of us went away hungry. We had a great time. My friend has been coming there for many year and seen many changes. The new bridge and construction has affected their business but they are not deterred and are there when needed. I know the next time I’m in the area, I will be back.

Pulled up to the dock and tied off. Dock decking was pretty slippery covered in some moss. A lot of uneven boards. The outside deck didn’t look inviting at all to me.
Inside dinning area was nicer on cool on a hot day. Server was very friendly. Ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger, Catfish Sandwich and Conch Fritters. It was around 11:30am and not very busy. The food came out in a decent time hot. Food was good. The burger was juicy and the vegetables were fresh. The fries were okay, probably could have been cooked a little longer. The sweet potato fries were great. Conch fritters were a bit greasy but good. The catfish sandwich was also good.
The bathroom was a huge turn off. It wasn’t very clean and it was early in the day.

Five star bar food! Excellent tuna salad, burgers, cold drinks and friendly prompt service! The setting is unchanged in the 50 years I’ve been going there. A return after some time away was great and bitter sweet. Remembering Otis and Myrtle and many others was nostalgic and sweet but the food and service was here, now and top notch! Thanks for respecting the history!

The service was very pleasant and the hush puppies were delicious. The rest was a miss. I ordered fried boneless catfish, and my guest ordered the other whitefish and we both went with slaw as our side. The slaw was swimming in a pink dressing that was overly sweet. My catfish was without a doubt Asian blue catfish, and when I googled what my companion ordered (I didn’t recognize the name) it was another name for Asian swai. They both tasted unpleasant, and we both had to use a knife to cut our fillets. We left most of our food untouched, but nothing was said when the bartender brought us the check. We went elsewhere for a snack and reminisced about how good this place used to be.

I can’t say enough about how good the food, beer, prices and service is. It is not the nicest looking restaurant by far but it is located on the river with indoor and outdoor seating. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good seafood dinner. They also have a great burger and fried mushrooms.
