I’m from Colorado Springs, and my family brought me here for shabu. I was truly impressed by the quality of the food.
The broth was light, clean, and very flavorful, not overpowering at all. You can really taste the natural sweetness from the slow-simmered bones. I especially loved the bun rieu broth and the tom yum broth.
The meat quality was excellent and very fresh. The dipping sauces were unique and incredibly appetizing, making the whole meal even more enjoyable.
The staff were friendly, attentive, and very welcoming.
Overall, it was a perfect and joyful meal with my family. Highly recommend!
Friendly and attentive staff made for a positive experience.
The spicy miso broth stood out as a highlight, while the tonkatsu broth was a bit underwhelming without added spice. The entrees and appetizers were enjoyable, particularly the spicy dumplings and garlic edamame.
Long wait times and limited parking could make this spot tricky during peak hours, so calling ahead to the waitlist is highly recommended.
A great spot for flavorful food and lively energy, especially for small groups—just come prepared for a wait and parking challenges.
When the Creamy Vegetarian soup base first came out, it tasted a bit creamy but it felt like it was missing something. After adding vegetables and the toro belly, the soup base tasted better. I would preferred the Spicy Sichuan soup base with mild spice. The Spicy Sichuan – mild was seasoned well and when you add the vegetables and toro beef, it enhanced the soup base even more! It’s definitely my favorite here! I would also recommend getting the Shack Sauce, even though it’s an extra $0.50 for it. The sauce pairs really well with the toro belly. The toro belly meat was soft and you can taste the quality of it.
Service was friendly and food was brought out fairly quickly. This is a good spot to go if you are craving hot pot. I will definitely be coming back to try the other soup bases and meat!
This place wasn’t bad the one time I was able to go. Which was why my boyfriend and I were planning to go tonight for our date night during the one time these past two weeks we were both free. I had already planned what we would order and had been craving shabu shabu for a while. My boyfriend rushed over straight after work hence why we selected this restaurant because it was open until 10pm. We walked in at 9:25pm and were told that they already did last call. I don’t understand why they would claim to be open until 10pm if they won’t accept customers after 9:20, especially disheartening because there are not many restaurants in this area.
UPDATE:
I went back to try with my boyfriend and his sister from out of town since Shabu Time reached out to me and it seemed like it was a misunderstanding. I had an incredible time and the waiter who had spoke to me last time remembered me and was very sweet and understanding of the situation. It was also empty except for one couple the last time so he also wanted us to have the best experience possible which I definitely understood. I’d like to amend what I said previously, this restaurant has some delicious food and the service on this busy Saturday I did go in was incredibly attentive. At some point I had dropped a spoon and immediately was offered a new one and all the waiters and waitresses we interacted with were kind and patiently gave suggestions to optimize our experience! Definitely recommend Shabu Time, just know they get busy on the weekends! We ordered three soup bases (Tonkatsu, Tonkatsu Spicy, and Tom Yum) with Kobe Beef, Beef Belly, and Lamb. Also got some extras of the baby corn, fish cake tofu, eggs, and the cilantro ponzu and shack sauce. I also got to try the matcha cheesecake. All the parts of the meal was beyond delicious.
My favorite meat here is the beef belly. The Kobe beef and kurobuta were okay, but some pieces had a bit of a weird taste. Overall it was good but next time I’ll probably just get extra beef belly.
Only one person is attending (besides the people in the kitchen), but you can clearly see that he does everything possible so each person is attended to quickly, also, he is very friendly.
I Ordered:
Spicy miso soup with a vegetarian entree & vermicelli
Tonkotsu soup with pork & rice Hot tea
The food is good, the place is clean/disinfect, in general, you will have a nice experience, quality food, and a warm plate.
