SoGongDong, a small county of central Seoul, is a Korean historical place where princess Kyoung-Jung, a second daughter of King Tae Jong had resided. In this historical spot, there are several well known Korean cultural properties such as Sungnyemun. Sungnyemun, the first National Treasure of South Korea, is one of the Eight Gates and it was built to protect the palace in Joseon Dynasty. We, SGD, believe that Sungnyemun is especially meaningful to Korean. Our flower symbol was inspired by Sungnyemun’s floral design, and its color of gold represents SoGong-Dong’s royal history. Inspired by Sogong-Dong’s history, our mission is to convey Korean tradition and spirits to the world through our dishes.

Reviews
The restaurant has plenty of seating parties between 2-4 people.
The chicken bento box was a good value for the portions but it could’ve used a little more spice in the chicken bulgogi.
The service was consistent and the food came out promptly.
There is limited street parking. This restaurant is best accessed by public transit or by foot.
Honestly, would probably come again when desperate for Korean food because of its proximity but might take food to go.
Terrible unhappy server. She made us feel very unwelcomed.

BYOB
New find by Western and North. Lovely eatery with very limited menu and only 2 side dishes accompanying the main.
The taste was good and very nicely spiced. The size of the portions was good. The taste was very good.
I would definitely go back!
Service wasfast. We got chicken bulgogi which came in sizzling to our table. It is served with rice and 2 sides dishes. The chicken tasted great!
The pork dumplings were tasty and I loved the sauce served with it.
To make matters worse, yesterday was one of the iciest days in Chicago. When you walked into the restaurant, the floor inside was soaked and extremely slippery. I almost fell multiple times just walking to my table. While sitting there, I felt anxious the entire time, worrying that someone could easily slip and seriously hurt themselves.
It wasn’t until another customer spoke up that someone finally came out from the back to clean the floor. When they did, the staff member appeared visibly annoyed and unhappy, which only added to the uncomfortable atmosphere.
Between the lack of basic customer service, the safety issues, and the overall attitude, this experience left a really bad impression. I wanted to like this place, but after two visits like this, I don’t see myself coming back.
With almost nothing available on the menu and such unwelcoming service, we ended up having to walk out. Why give our business to a place that couldn’t provide the basics of a restaurant? I usually love SGD and have been to 5 other Chicagoland locations with great experiences, always receiving amazing service and food in a comfortable attractive setting, but this location was completely unbearable. Too bad, I had high hopes since this SGD is in my area, but next time I will just have to drive further to the suburb locations until their service improves here.
