I gave Sexy Roman four stars, but truthfully it’s closer to a 3½ — and after thinking about it, I wouldn’t go back.
The atmosphere is definitely one of its strong points. It’s stylish, trendy, and makes for a fun night out. The service was also very good — attentive and friendly without being too much.
Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to the vibe. The branzino needed more seasoning and overall flavor. It was fine, just average. The burrata tortellini was actually really good — rich and delicious — but the portion was very small, which made it feel overpriced.
Overall, it’s a beautiful space with solid service, but the food just didn’t impress enough to bring me back.
Food-wise, everything was spot on. The Lumache allá Vodka was rich and comforting, the bucatini had amazing texture, the branzino was perfectly cooked, and the octopus was incredibly tender with great flavor. You can tell they put real attention into every dish.
On top of all that, the service was fantastic. One thing to consider is that this restaurant is a bit pricey for an Italian restaurant so I would recommend it for a date night, special occasion, or when you just want a stylish night out with amazing food and drinks!
The overall atmosphere is very sultry and lush – velvet seating, beautiful curtains, thoughtful lighting, and an indoor “patio”
Our food experience was mixed – some dishes were under salted/seasoned (arancini) and some were oversalted (octopus) but the team handled this feedback graciously and provided a wonderful experience for our group. Favorites from this dinner were the truffle mac and cheese, rigatoni, and short rib tortellini. Drinks were delicious and the service was wonderful – with some small adjustments I think this will be a top notch, line out of the door establishment. The service, presentation, and ambiance is already EXCELLENT – looking forward to the next visit.
Nate, our bartender took my lone preference for something with mezcal and crafted a very special mezcal version of a “Last Word” that hit the spot.
Upon seating for dinner, our server Taylor continued to bring the sexy and elevated vibes, offering suggestions for cocktails and dishes that fit our mood perfectly.
Camille brought over the Martini cart and crafted two of the best martinis my wife and I have very had. Hers a gin-based with cucumber and mine a classic Chopin slightly dirty with blue cheese olives. The presentation was as good as the drinks.
Our appetizer of Waygu Carpaccio was as good as advertised and both our entrees – mine the Chicken Parmagiaba, hers the Lumache ala Vodka – were as exceptional as Taylor suggests they would be.
We can’t say enough about the service. Taylor set the tone and reinforced the sexy, playful vibe of the room, while offering the perfect recommendations.
We will return, often.
Restaurant “ well that explains it
Still worth a visit for sure once
