Seven Coffee & Pastries: Discover Venice’s Hidden Gem for Coffee …
Reviews
We got a matcha latte, red velvet scone, and s’mores coffee for under $20. We atmosphere was peaceful and the woman who helped us was so kind!
Worth stoping in for a tasty treat. It was very easy to pull up to. We went there on a Saturday afternoon and were able to find free street parking right outside. Tons of shops are along the same street so you can walk and shop.
Real espresso, as well.
If you are in Venice you need to go here.
I highly recommend this wonderful cafe.
I was waiting for my order at a table. Almost every table in the café was empty. A pregnant woman entered with a stroller and a small child. The staff member’s attitude changed immediately. She began telling the woman it was a bad idea to bring a stroller inside because it would block the walkway. This was simply untrue — there was plenty of space and no inconvenience to anyone.
The situation became even more uncomfortable when the mother, while ordering, allowed her child to briefly hold a small, cheap Valentine’s decoration from the counter under her direct supervision. The staff member reacted aggressively, scolding her in a sharp and irritated tone, making it very clear that the presence of a child was unwelcome.
It was painful to watch. The body language, tone, and attitude left no doubt — this café does not welcome families. The atmosphere suggested that strollers, children, and anyone needing a bit of extra space or understanding are considered a problem rather than guests.
This wasn’t about safety or space. It was about intolerance and a complete lack of basic courtesy.
As for the empanadas — despite the variety of fillings, most were dry and tasted nearly identical. Only a couple of flavors were acceptable, but nothing was memorable enough to make up for the experience.
I am giving one star because basic food was served. The treatment of that mother and child was unacceptable and left a lasting negative impression.
I will not return, and families should be aware of how they may be treated here.
The menu offered a wide variety of options, and I was specifically looking for a flavored iced latte. After asking about their flavors, the staff directed me to a flavor board with plenty of choices. I ordered a Swiss chocolate iced latte with oat milk and, feeling a bit tired, I requested an extra shot. The staff member upsold me to get another additional shot, which I thought was reasonable at the time.
When the total came to $15.97, I was stunned by the price breakdown:
• Iced Latte: $9.00
• Two extra shots: $2.50 each (totaling $5.00)
• Oat milk: $1.00
• 18% tip: $3.00
Final total: $18.97
Given that this was on Venice Island, I expected an exceptional latte for that price. While the drink was good, I’ve had comparable quality coffee at Mon Ami Café, Moulin Blanc Café, or Black Gold Coffee Roasters for much less. I understand that newer businesses in the area may charge higher prices due to rent and overhead, but I believe this shop’s prices are too steep.
After receiving my drink, the staff member was friendly, asking if I needed more milk or ice, which I declined. Before I left, he offered me a pastry, making it sound like a free sample. When he then said it was for sale, I lost interest. This felt like a sales tactic, and I left feeling disappointed.
Despite the amazing customer service, the upselling approach left a sour taste in my mouth. Until they lower their prices and adopt a less aggressive sales strategy, I won’t be returning. If you have plenty of money to spend, this place might be worth a try, but for the average customer like me, it’s not a viable option.
