Casual eatery with traditional decor preparing familiar Chinese standards & a few Thai dishes.

I’m treated well every time I go to Sesame Garden. Nice servers, great food (the general tso’s is really crispy – love it!), calm vibes in Mount Washington, you can’t beat it! I will say that the pad thai is kind of “mid” – just go to Thai Gourmet in Bloomfield if you want that kind of food.

My boyfriend claims this deserves a higher rating than what I am providing. However, despite this being a fine establishment, I do not think the food merits a 5/5 star rating. We were the only people in the restaurant while we ate, nothing wrong with that, just seemed slightly odd. Seems like a place that focuses more on takeout than anything? Not sure though. It was nice and spacious regardless of that. My chicken was only so-so. My boyfriend on the other hand claimed that his beef was better than ANY OTHER BEEF IN PITTSBURGH CHINESE RESTAURANTS. He is ever so slightly picky…so this is big coming from him. Overall, the prices were excellent and the staff were kind. I would come again and probably try something else off the menu. The kids menu also had a whopping two items. That was slightly humorous to us. Good job overall!

Amazing egg drop soup, chow fun and cashew chicken! We left nothing
Atmosphere is what is expected from a family owned restaurant, but really cool mural on the wall

Came in over the weekend for dinner, and we were happy to have walked by this place! A lot of their dishes/sauces are made from scratch in house. Order the seaweed salad pork dumplings and the Mongolian beef. My husband loved the seaweed salad and said it had a ton of flavor. We shared the pork dumplings and they were great, we usually get our dumplings steamed but with their house-made dumpling dough I would probably suggest getting them fried which we will try next time. Also shared the Mongolian beef and it was massive we ended up taking quite a bit home and eating it later. Would highly recommend, really nice staff and very fresh food!

Wow!! Really good! I haven’t been here for awhile but it appears they stepped it up quite a bit. I got the lemon chicken lunch special, delicious. Chicken was cooked perfectly and it was a good balance of quality to quantity. Wonton soup actually had flavor and wasn’t an afterthought. The also have a selection of healthy options, some without MSG seasoning if you are sensitive to it.
The inside of the restaurant was REALLY clean too. It’s a nice relaxing atmosphere, great if you want something quieter than most of the Shiloh St bar restaurants. Owner is very hospitable.

This place is a 5-star in my book!
The chicken egg roll was delicious—one of the best I’ve had—and a great size, too.
I also enjoyed the orange chicken dinner with fried rice, which was amazing. The portion was generous, with just the right amount of spice. I only ate half and saved the rest for lunch the next day.
Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

This place is great. Fantastic food and very calm atmosphere.
I’m serious, this place can COOK. I’ve been here three times and I’ve ordered a different dish every time. Every time I’ve been impressed – they’re always cooked perfectly.
The staff is very friendly.
They bring out food in a reasonable time: appetizer comes out immediately, entree comes after you’ve had a reasonable time to get through your appetizer. I love the timing.
The only (slight) downside is the place has a slightly strange smell, but after you’ve been sitting there for a few minutes, you can’t even tell anymore. Edit: the place doesn’t smell anymore!
Highly recommend!!

Had a great meal here. Waiter was attentive, friendly and gave a great entree recommendation.
We had the vegeterian Mussaman with vegetables, Chicken Fingers with fried rice and Orange Chicken. All were presented well and tasted great.
The tofu in the Mussaman was pressed and prepared perfectly.
Can’t believe the final price as I expected it to be at least $15 more.

My family took me out to dinner for my birthday. We decided to try this place. We have a 2 year old toddler, 1 year old baby, and teenager. They were VERY accommodating. Things can be a little hectic with the little ones. Our waiter was very nice and tentative. The food was very fresh, and very large portions. We definitely will be back again!

Went in, asked for tea as a beverage, they didn’t make tea. The hot and sour soup was loaded with cabbage and the broth tasted it was made with copious amounts of water and about three gallons of soy sauce. The general toss tasted like chicken that was swimming in a disgusting sweet sauce.
