I went in with hope and left with trust issues.
Normally, when you’re in Missouri, you expect Mexican food to be… let’s say Midwest-interpreted. But plot twist: this place is actually Mexican-owned, which somehow made the disappointment even more impressive.
Everything had onions. Not “a little onion.” Not “garnish onion.” I mean ONIONS ONIONS ONIONS. If you ordered dessert, I’m pretty sure they would’ve sprinkled diced onion on it just to stay consistent.
I ordered a taco salad and found actual ice cubes in it. Not “cold lettuce.” Not “chilled bowl.” ICE. CUBES. Nothing says authentic like a salad that doubles as a beverage cooler.
The soda? Straight city water vibes. You know the kind that tastes like it came from a pool filter behind a public restroom. I took one sip and immediately regretted every life choice that led me there.
Atmosphere check: two people absolutely hammered on margaritas, which honestly might be the only thing this place does right. At this point I’m convinced the entire business model is buy one get one margaritas and forget what you just ate.
Final verdict: Come thirsty, come drunk, and for the love of God… ask for no onions. Or just order the margaritas and save yourself the emotional damage.

Bright and clean, friendly service, great flavor! Chile rellenos are great, the batter is strongly seasoned and no shortage of cheese filing. Spinach enchiladas hit the spot if you need veg but aren’t feeling a salad and they don’t skimp on flavor. The house salsa is good and they had proper picante on the table side. So glad we drove in to town to eat rather than stopping near the highway!

After spending a great deal of time in California, New Mexico, Arizona, and the low desert areas of the Southwest United States, moving back to Missouri was greatly disappointing. We tried “authentic family” Mexican restaurant after restaurant, to no avail. It was all very “watered down”… until we tried Serrano’s , in Clinton Missouri. I would go so far as to say this is the best Mexican food restaurant in the ENTIRE state of Missouri. We drive 30+ miles now every time we want truly authentic Mexican food. I’ve lived in much bigger and more populated areas of Missouri, NOTHING else here even comes close to Serrano’s quality of food. The atmosphere and staff is top notch! Cleanliness is immaculate, the wait staff, cooks, even the owners are extra friendly and helpful! I’m the camarones a la diabla fan, and it is nearly impossible to find any in Missouri that is truly authentic, but Serrano’s in Clinton, Missouri has it and it is delicious

Great service and atmosphere. The chips were excellent, very fresh. Kids split a nacho which was very generous in portion size. The chicken quesadillas were good. Fajitas with everything was good. Overall a great experience from start to finish. Highly recommend.

First time trying this Mexican restaurant. I love the fact that they have menudo every day! It was very tasty! My husband also liked the mole! Very hard to find mole in restaurants. Margaritas were very good as well. They have happy hour 2:00 to 6:00 except for Fridays and Saturdays and offer half-price margaritas!! Will definitely go back next time we go thru Clinton!!

I revisited this wonderful mexican restaurant and it did not disappoint. Beef Enchiladas with 3 differwnt sauces fantastic. Chicken Enchiladas with creama sauce amazing. Not sure i have that sauce name correct. You absolutely need to eat here. You will not eat any other Mexican restaurant again. That’s how good it is.❤️
