So I went here for the first time and was disappointed. I was recommend by many people at work. I ordered the salmon and It was not specified that they chop the salmon up the put sauce on It. They charge market price but don’t give market portions. The meal was $25 and It wasn’t even a whole piece of salmon. To me It looks like canned salmon in a Togo container. The food does not seem consistant on a daily basis. I also order the fried fish and got Mac and cheese and yams. The Mac was dry and old the yams were old as well. I reach out the the influencer on social media because there is no number to call. She says everything was made fresh and perfectly but you be the judge. For the price you pay seems like they’re only worried about getting your money, not the quality of the food. After spending over a hundred dollars, on this food It just doesn’t live up to expectations. Hope they expand there menu to include healthier options that up lift our community, not feed into the diabetes and high blood pressure that plague our community.

The crab balls were great. The restaurant has great potential. I believe if they work on small touches, it could be excellent. I would have like to see cocktail sauce since they have an extensive sea food menu. The other is I would like to see hair nets in place on the men and women.

For amazing soul food in Wilmington, this is the spot. Couldn’t take any photos of the food, I ate it so fast. The half and half combo with chicken and fish was heavenly. The collard greens and potato salad were divine, with a bit of sourness in both that cut through the fried goodness on my plate.
Friendly staff and be patient with them, the food is made to order so don’t be rushing the process.

I order for the first time today and I was very skeptical about ordering because I read some of the reviews. I said just give it a chance everybody tast buds are different. When opened the container I knew something was gonna be wrong the macaroni and cheese was horrible it looked like they cooked it early this morning and it sat around all day. The fish was fishy tasting and not good, however I was able to enjoy the yams. This was a waste of money, I won’t be back!!!

Im sorry but the Mac N Cheese was not mackin. Idk what that was but that was NOT soul food mac. Tasted like some sort of Kraft or Velveeta powder mix. I can tell because i had a bit of powder chunks that didnt dissolve. Thats perfectly fine if you are no mac n cheese expert, but I would even just take it off the menu rather than serve some brand you bought at Walmart.
On a positive note, the people seemed nice and the ambiance was unique. Too bad for that mac tho.

Serena’s Soul Food has some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. The owner was flat-out rude and unprofessional. She got loud with a customer, waved her hands in his face, and carried on like it was entertainment for everyone watching.
When the gentleman asked a simple question, she acted like he was annoying her. No business owner should treat people that way. It was embarrassing to witness and uncomfortable for everyone else in the restaurant.
If this is how management thinks customers should be treated, I won’t ever be back. There are too many other places that know how to serve good food and respect their customers.
Edit to owner: It absolutely did happen on Saturday 9/27/25 at the open mic night event! You went as far as to turn to another customer and start discussing the situation. Again, unprofessional!! It was very uncomfortable and the gentleman and his wife…ME, left and will never be back!! You’re toxic!

I’d rate the food 4.5* which rounds up to 5. Had the fried whiting fish platter with apple yams and mac and cheese. The fish was nice and crispy and the breading had a great flavor. The apple yams were just the right amount of sweet and spicy. The mac and cheese was decent but not amazing.

I decided to give Serena’s Soul Food Kitchen a try for takeout, and it was a complete mistake. By the time I got home, the food was a soggy, unappetizing mess. The containers were leaking grease, the fried chicken was limp and cold, and the mac and cheese looked like it had been scooped from the bottom of a pot hours ago. Everything was thrown together carelessly, with no attention to presentation or freshness. On top of that, the portions were tiny for the price. If this is what they consider “soul food,” they should be ashamed. Honestly, I wouldn’t feed this to my dog.
