The food was just as amazing as the scenery.
We started with the Grilled Octopus for an appetizer and had the Spicy Lobster Rigatoni as the main—both were absolutely delicious!
There’s so much joy in having a wonderful meal with such a stunning backdrop.
The best part of the night was our server, he was very nice and apparently has worked there over 20 years (so, he should be great!).
The Octopus and Baja Kampachi were the highlights of the meal. But, the Petite Platter was TERRIBLE and SO EXPENSIVE. The oysters were not even separated from the shell… honestly very upsetting. And since that cost nearly half of the meal, we expected much higher quality.
The hotel itself was pretty but WAY TOO BUSY, especially if you have children with special needs — not hospitable. Will not be returning in this lifetime.
Oh, and good luck finding a restroom!
For the best brunch experience in Coronado, Serea truly never disappoints!
Our server was incredibly kind, patient, and attentive. He gave us great recommendations on what to try, and we decided to go all-in with the signature dishes. Honestly, not a single dish disappointed us—everything was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully prepared.
The only small downside was that the timing between courses was a little slow, but the food and overall experience more than made up for it. For a birthday celebration, it felt special and memorable.
Highly recommend Serẽa for anyone looking for delicious seafood, great service, and a gorgeous seaside setting! ✨
The fixed menu was not communicated at all before booking dinner and if me and my partner had known this prior, we would not have come. Unaware of the circumstances, we showed up and had no other choice but to just go with the flow of things and dine here anyways.
Everything was good until our main course came, the New York strip steak. Me and my partner ordered medium and medium rare. We were handed blue and rare steaks. I have never in my experience of dining ESPECIALLY at a high end restauraunt had to send back food. But I did politely, because for a $500 dining experience, my steak better be cooked perfectly to my liking the first time. It was not until our server shared with me that upon asking the chef to cook my steak more, that he gave it back to her still raw and she was waiting for him to cook it more that I had an issue. I don’t know why she chose to share this information with me but I’m glad she did. The chef at this restaurant cooks the food to HIS liking, not yours. And throws fits when you ask him to make it how YOU ORDERED.
Again, we paid $500 FOR THIS MEAL. Cook the steak on your menu to the customers liking, because remember, that’s actually your job chef of Serra.
You tainted our Valentine’s Day heavily.
We will never forget, and we will never ever be back.
I flew my wife and two teenagers from Las Vegas to Coronado for a Valentine’s / Birthday weekend. Weeks ago I made a reservation at Serea expecting a normal dinner nowhere during the booking process was it made clear that they would ONLY be serving a $165 per person fixed menu on Valentine’s Day.
I found out about this not from the restaurant… but from another guest at my hotel bar at 6pm on Valentine’s Day. Imagine planning a special dinner for your family and discovering, hours before, that your kids are expected to eat a $165 tasting menu.
To make it worse:
• No call
• No email
• No text
• Nothing directly communicated
When I called the restaurant they claimed they “sent a message” which turned out to be buried inside OpenTable, not an actual notification any reasonable guest would ever rely on for a major change like this.
Then I’m told there’s a $50 per person cancellation fee for a menu they never properly disclosed.
They eventually offered to cancel but said a manager would “have to decide” if I would still be charged. So now I’m scrambling at 6pm on Valentine’s Day in a tourist town where every restaurant is booked, after flying my family here for a special occasion.
This isn’t hospitality.
This is bait and switch reservation management.
High end pricing requires high end communication and professionalism. If you’re charging $165 per person, you don’t hide it in an OpenTable message and call that notice.
Extremely disappointing experience and a ruined evening.
The staff here are incredibly friendly and attentive, which adds to the overall amazing experience. And the food? Absolutely top-notch! They serve the best smoked salmon in all of San Diego—it’s a must-try. I usually go for the lamb care, which are always perfectly cooked, but today I tried the pork chop, and it was just as delicious. The filet mignon is another standout; I highly recommend it to anyone dining here.
The cocktails are also spectacular, expertly crafted and a perfect complement to the meal. We come here often because it’s simply the best restaurant for unforgettable moments. I can’t recommend Serea enough!
My only complaint is the sheer wait time. This is a restaurant that you have to go to expecting to spend atleast 3 hours. We had a reservation made, but still waited quite some time to get our table. It took 2 hours from the time we sat down for our main dishes to come out. I understand the need to financially prosper, but this was ridiculous. I would rather that this restaurant simply stopped accepting reservations or new guests once they reach a certain capacity. I wish I could leave 5 stars, but I have left quite disappointed.
