Serafina is a little gem of a restaurant, perched on top of Nob Hill, with views overlooking the city and Bay Bridge. Serafina was owner Maurizio Bruschi’s grandmother, and the name of her eponymous restaurant in the heart of Trastevere (Rome), where Maurizio first began making pizza at the age of 14. The executive chef is Umberto Cannarsa, a successful chef from Rome, who left his own restaurant in Rome to work with Maurizio again. The menu offers everything, including vegetarian options, but specializes in innovative Italian fish dishes, including fresh calamari, stuffed with olives, escarole, anchovies, drizzled with a potato leek sauce, as well as homemade pastas and dolci. The space is warm and elegant.
Cozy, homestyle restaurant with hearty Italian cuisine & a robust wine list, plus alfresco seating.

Authentic Italian restaurant!
I tried Pinsa Prosciutto e Funghi (very tasty and thin dough, authentic Italian style), also tried the Tonnarelli al Nero di Seppia con Polpo (very light sea pasta).
For desert we followed the recommendation of Fausto, our server, Millefoglie con Pistacchio a La Mode (homemade desert, really impressive flavor) also tried the homemade Tiramisú, very tasty.
The environment was very cozy!
Definitely I’ll be back and recommend a try for all!

If you love actual Italian food, then I suggest running (not walking) to this wonderful restaurant.
The interior is warm and inviting with cozy seating. It’s a local place off the tourist track so you’ll feel at ease and there aren’t a lot of tables so the food comes out right on time.
The food is magnificent and reminded me of my favorite places in Roma, Firenze and NYC. I’m very picky about my Italian food and this restaurant is at the top of my list in the USA.
The owners are 2 Italians and so is the chef. I suggest trying everything because every dish we tried was perfect. They’ve got a great wine list and we can’t wait to go back!!
We loved the specials (cacio e Pepe, seared tuna) and the chicken with capers. Dessert was lovely too. We sat in the corner booth and got a view of the whole restaurant so that was nice. Treat yourself

We were referred to this cozy spot with the great family home vibes. The service was personable and accommodating. You really felt like you were at family dinner. The food was incredible. We ordered the caprese salad and prosciutto arugula appetizers, both were amazing. For our entrees we had the chicken piccata, lasagne, and my son had a pizza. The lasagne was a showstopper…but really all the dishes were delicious.
Great place! Thank you for the experience!

my friend and i got dinner here! very very delicious food. definitely make a reservation before going in! our server helped us make some decisions when it came food choices, which we appreciated. wasn’t super into where we were seated, but hey it was a saturday night. i recommend the pesto pasta and the seafood spaghetti (forgotten the exact names though, sorry!) and the calamari (which was the highlight for me). of course one can never go wrong with tiramisu.

I’m in town for a few days and got dinner here with a friend. It was our first time trying Serafina and we loved it! Authentic Italian dishes with fabulous wine! The food was delicious. Fausto and Uberto are the sweetest and they made the experience 3x better!! 🙂 From the service to food, we had a lovely time here and will definitely be back!!
(Fausto, this is Christina 🙂 hahaha)

This spot sits right on top of the hill near the tunnel. During the pandemic, we started frequenting local, family-owned businesses, and this is one of our favorites! It has very cozy vibes, though it’s quite small and packed. If you are broad-shouldered or have a large frame, the seating might feel a bit tight. It’s great for small gatherings, and it seems like many of the customers are neighbors from Russian Hill! (typical tasty Italian food).

This is a little gem hidden in the trees. Everything we have had is amazing. The soups, salads, pastas, Marsala, Piccata, steaks, fish, Risotto & Lasagna are all wonderful. The Sara’s Favorite is life changing. The desserts are lovely and the service is friendly and attentive.
So……….make a reservation, come hungry and enjoy our favorite Italian restaurant in the forest❤️

What a nice little find! Saw them on Yelp and Google Maps with high reviews. Did not disappoint. The restaurant is small and quaint, with charm. The 2 main waiters were both so charming and friendly. I think they were both from Sicily or Italy, really ethnic Italians! They made great recommendations for appetizers, wine and dessert. All of the main course we ordered were all so tasty. We ate a ton of food and felt like a stuffed calzone when we left! I will be back again. Bring someone that you really want to impress. You will love it! ❤️

If you must come here, try not to come after others arrive late! We waited on the street a solid 15 minutes after our reserved time since so many people were before us. They apologized as expected, complaining about their customers who were late, and then harassed us that we did not look happy when they finally came to see if we wanted water (I was actually hoping for a comp’ed drink as amends but oh well). The experience was not looking promising from there so we left. Serafina, you might cook good food, but good service is the foundation of hospitality. Frascati nearby does it so much better!
