Local Food Fight
We returned to Senor Tequila with anticipation. We’d been here four times prior, and came this time specifically to take pictures of the food to complete our ravereview. Unfortunately, our experience was different this time.
Same great atmosphere, same kind, genuine and efficient service, but the food was slightly disappointing. Every previous visit was during dinner service, this time during lunch and if I had to guess, I would assume it was a different kitchen team all together.
The Food: We ordered the Queso Fundido, ala carte Chicken Chimichanga with a side of rice and refried beans, and an ala carte Chile Relleno.
The chips and salsa here are top notch. They taste fresh, house-made and didn’t disappoint. The Queso Fundido on the other hand had completely seized by the time it made it’s way to the table, and the steak was perched on top, making it difficult to eat and/or enjoy. During our last visit, the same dish was bubbly, melty and the beef was incorporated within.
Of the entrees, the Chimichanga was the best – delicious, smoky and moist chicken wrapped in a crispy fried tortilla. No sauce accompanied the dish, so we would recommend ordering a cheese sauce or additional salsa in the side.
The Relleno itself was good, but the sauce had a different, brighter flavor instead of the deep, rich flavor we’d experienced before.
We have complete confidence that this was just “one of those days”, and we’ll return during dinner service to enjoy the food we’ve come to love, and happily update our review.

Loved the atmosphere of this place! The decor was great. Food was pretty good. Heads up on dessert…the skillet cookie is a ramkin cookie. It was tasty but not worth the price. Vanessa was our server and spent more time talking to the other servers than taking care of the customers.

Two consecutive nights at Senor Tequila: Elevated Mexican cuisine, “Welcome, back!” service, and fun atmosphere (hello, karaoke!).
(Stepped out of Portland, Oregon into Florence Alabama for a workshop [textile design]—home of the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio and the University of North Alabama.)
Food: Dishes you’d expect—from taquitos to fajitas—but with thoughtful plating that pulls flavors and textures into a delightful taste experience.
Loved the Tuesday Taco of four taco flavors (my favorite: roasted chicken with crispy onions—did a repeat on the second night ).
Drinks: “Senor-ritas” margaritas—perfect peak-Southern-summer drink. (You had me at top-shelf tequila and Grand Marnier.)
Service: Jackson was our lovely server both nights. He was attentive and welcoming and remembered us when we walked in the second night. (He also told us about the Blue Cup law and hooked us up with Senor-ritas in blue to-go cups ). Thank you, Jackson!
Atmosphere: Welcoming, modern décor. Loved the long banquettes running along both sides of the dining room.
Night two Karaoke was close to the entrance—great for coaxing people to do a song (including this non-country-singing Aussie). Some serious talent (and lovely people) behind the mic!

From the moment you walk in, this place completely draws you in with its incredible atmosphere. The vibes are so cool and inviting, and the Christmas decorations are absolutely beautiful—festive without being over the top, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a meal during the season.
The service was outstanding. The staff is extremely friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which really adds to the overall experience. You can tell they genuinely care about making guests feel comfortable and taken care of.
The food was delicious, and the portions were generous, so you definitely leave satisfied. Everything we tried was full of flavor, but the new sizzling burrito is a must-try—it comes out hot, fresh, and packed with goodness.

Outstanding food. The chimichanga trio was delicious. I had one shrimp, one chicken and one steak. You could also combine the meats if you want. The chips were fresh and we enjoyed the white queso as well. My parents got taco salads and they looked delicious. Excellent service and nice atmosphere. We will be back!

Had a late dinner tonight. The staff sat me on the second floor. That is where I met Alexander, my server. He took great care of me and assisted me with my questions about the menu. I ordered a draft blood orange and Quesabirria. My meal was full of flavor and I would definitely order it again! Great atmosphere. Great restaurant! One suggestion: the salsa bowl is too small. Upsize please.

Hands down the best Mexican restaurant in the area. Service was quick and accommodating. Food was top notch and the atmosphere was very welcoming and made you want to stay.
I had the pleasure of being served by Jacob, who made sure my experience was memorable and answered any questions I had. When it came to dessert, the manager, Edson, personally came to deliver it and see that everything was to my liking. I even had the privilege to speak to the owner, Carlos, who was active to make sure his guests were taken care of.
I was very impressed by the selection of tequila. You won’t find what they have in a lot of places around here. As for the food, they’ve done a good job of leveling up the usual Mexican fare.
Overall, I was really impressed and highly recommend to anyone looking for a great dining experience.

Food was absolutely delicious, hot and fresh! I wasn’t too hungry, so I just got a taco salad and a margarita. I’ll bring my appetite next time. They also have dishes made for two. They sound amazing. The service was excellent. Just the whole place has a great ambiance to it. Yall should definitely check this place out!
