My fiancee and I came here for Valentine’s Day lunch. We wanted to try a new place and this was on our list of vegan places we wanted to try. The menu choices seemed plentiful, the staff were friendly and helpful, and this place has a cool spooky Halloween type vibe which I love. We ordered and sat down. The food service was quick.
The jalapeño poppers were quite large, which I normally wouldn’t ever complain about because I love them, but these were different. They have a very thick crackery outside, and the inside was barely warm, so the jalapeño was basically raw inside. I wasn’t a fan of the taste of the cheeze but I know vegan cheese can be difficult to replicate the real thing. The ranch dipping sauce was very mild. I attempted to put some redhot on the poppers to enhance the flavor but ultimately could not eat more than one of these as something just tasted off to me. I split the Italian sub with my fiancé. It looked excellent. I ended up picking off the seitan as the texture was a little slimy to me and I was happy to eat just the toppings and bread. The bun is high quality. I tasted the peanut butter pie and it was excellent. Lightweight, not cheesecake-y, sweet but not overpowering, and tasted peanut buttery with like an Oreo type crust. This was so good but my third bite in, I pulled out a large hair that was pressed into the crust. That was the final straw. I’m no stranger to vegan and vegetarian food and am by no means a picky eater but this just missed the mark.
Once I got home I felt my stomach was upset and spent the remainder of Valentine’s Day vomiting and in bed feeling really sick. 🙁
Additionally, I really loved the vibes inside of the restaurant. I am a big fan of classic horror movies, and all of the posters and masks and overall decor was so cool!
we tried each others food and i found the gyro really delicious too. my mom said she preferred my wings over the gyro because the texture was more familiar. def want to come back and try more of the menu.
We arrived right when it opened so we were the first. We walked right up to the counter and put in our order. The lady, I am guessing the owner, was friendly and welcoming. After we put in the order, we had a chance to admire the decor: posters of old horror movies. Fun trip down memory lane, comparing notes about which was scary or gory or campy. And going with that motif, getting to the bathroom was fun — down a set of cold and dungeony stairs (the bathroom itself was all nice and modern, so all was good).
A definite stop for an excellent meal that you will enjoy, even if you are not vegan.
