I have been to Los Angeles, Boston, & Japan. Secret Fort’s yakitori is the best I had in America & is on par with some of the restaurants I had In Japan. The style of the restaurant, the friendly staff, & of course the food made this a “must visit” when coming to Seattle. If you are reading this. JUST GO! ITS SO GOOD!!!

Food was delicious. They have a 5 course deal for their 3rd-year anniversary and it was a perfect way to get a taste of what they offer. The Suji Nikomi, a beef stew, was the highlight of the course with tender meat and tasty broth.

We came to try the Seattle restaurant week menu. We loved the variety. Everything was tasty, some things stood out for us were – the white fish sashimi, the shiitake skewer, the bacon wrapped mochi skewer (didn’t know I’d like this!), the wagyu skewer.

Best Yakatori I’ve found here in Seattle. It never disappoints. One of my favorite Yakatori is pork belly with plum… It is simply, chef’s kiss <3

We will definitely be back! It’s hard to find good yakitori in Seattle. This place serves up moist skewers with great flavors. And there are other small dishes to choose from.

The vibe took us right back to Japan. We loved the decor!

Our favorites were the negima, waygu, Shisito, salmon carpaccio, and the rice side was sooo perfect as an add on! Don’t skip on the yuzu highball either – just perfect.

Our only recommendation is on the service. It was slow and the poor bartender was all alone. Regardless, we left happy, full, and excited for our next visit.

As secret as it’s name, cause there’s only a fire logo as the shop sign, and a Hokkaido ice- cream counter shadowed this izakiya behind.

Typical Japanese bar n grill snacks settings, play tribute to animation with some special decors. They serve good quality grill snacks , which are slightly seasoned, and staffs have good control of charcoal temperature. There are 3 types of seasonings, but we tend to choose the simple salt version.

Beef tongue , we tried both normal n exclusive ones, they are all tender and nice. Chicken gizzards are juicy, chicken skins are crispy not oily, and fried tofu are rich in beans protein favour. The tango pork impressed us most, slightly soft tango warped with savoury thin pork, what a perfect pair. We encore this item even we are very full.

Secret Fort in Fremont is a unique spot bursting with amazing retro art and anime decor that creates a fantastic vibe. We absolutely loved the atmosphere and the waitstaff were incredibly kind and attentive. If you’re looking for a memorable ambiance and don’t mind splurging a bit, Secret Fort is worth checking out.

Update Dec 2024: we returned to try more dishes: Wings, rice cake, tofu, dango bacon. Everything was delicious!

Very kitchy fun place with excellent food.

We went in on a Sunday, and very sadly they were out of wings and a couple other things on menu.
We were warmly greeted and quickly shown to our table and given a quick course on how to order. I got the Lychee Martinee, which was a little too sweet for my taste. Food came quickly, and we were impressed with how fresh the ingredients were. Being first timer, we tried the sampler, and then ordered more of what we liked and new things to try. We love our experience and planned to return at an earlier time on Fri or Sat to have less chance of dishes sold out.

We arrived right when they opened, so we didn’t have to wait. However, when we left, there was a line, so we recommend making a reservation in advance. The yakitori was fresh and tasty. The happy hour menu advertised 5 skewers for $15, but they changed it to 3 for $10, which was odd. We recommend trying the ebi roll and yakitori. The decor was also very cool, featuring a classic anime theme.
