Best sushi in Ventura/Oxnard. These guys make their own delicious sauces. All the fish is fresh and succulent. Their no rice rolls are the best, along with their dynamite seafood appetizer. Definitely my favorite sushi spot in town, and I’ve been to all of them. Even if you look at the negative reviews here, you can tell it’s from Karens who have nothing better to do then write a review or two on restaurants that don’t have vegan options.

This is usually mine & my bfs favorite spot. We walked in and were told we couldnt be seated due to us not having a reservation , i understand todays a busy today but ONE theres no sign that a reservation was needed and TWO the two young ladys were super rude about it . very unprofessional they couldve said it very differently in front of all the people who were sitting there. Very sad how they treat people who are willing to pay $$ to eat there!

Seward sushi is our new favorite spot! We went in there because they were one of the few places still open and they had the highest rating on Yelp. Wasn’t sure what to expect but it was apparent as soon as we got there how great the hostess was at attending our table and making sure we were comfortable. Our party of four ordered several rolls, but I must say anybody going here needs to try the Santa Paula roll! I’ve been to every sushi restaurant in Ventura county about, and I must say this place blows them all out of the water! Be sure to pair your meal with the garlic edamame! Pretty sure you guys will be riding a review as well after eating here ….

I had time to do a deep dive into the reviews of Seaward Sushi while waiting for our drinks to arrive to the table and for our order to be taken. I’ve found that ro get a clear picture, one has to read and give weight to the bad reviews as well as the good, and one HAS to be able to account for all possibilities in why a reviewer has said what they’ve said. In the reviews for this place I have reached the conclusion that it’s possible to have a good dining experience IF one doesn’t actually have a clue what a good dining experience is, or have any idea what good sushi is supposed to be.
My experience here was most closely matched to the most articulated and negative reviews with several key points being congruent. For starters, the wait time to have ANY attention from the servers is enough to make all but the most patient of customers leave as it was 30 minutes before water was delivered to our table, and 45 minutes in before our soft drinks arrived- which were delivered in cans which in my opinion is the most sanitary thing delivered to our table. We ordered a couple rolls and appetizers each and the miso soup came out first, about an hour into our visit, and the taste was so off that I began to worry about the rest of the food which had yet to arrive.
The shrimp tempura arrived next, with the shrimp being soggy inside the tempura batter and warm but not hot (uh oh). I ate 2 shrimp because at this point I just needed anything in my stomach.
The avocado bomb arrived next and might have been more appealing if the avocado used wasn’t full of black streaks from being past its useful life.
We saw some friends dining in the other room and went to say hi, and in doing so were offered to try a couple pieces from their variety of rolls, I tried the yellowtail, which I instantly regretted putting in my mouth as the fish was obviously too old to be fit for consumption. Not only was the taste horrible, the texture complete mush, but the temperature was WARM. My wife had the same experience with the tuna.
We returned to our table questioning both our friend’s taste buds and our decision to eat here. At an hour and a half in to the experience our first roll arrived minus wasabi, ginger, and without any desire to eat it. At this point we hunted down our server and asked to cancel the rest of our order and to bring us the check as we had lost any desire to venture further into this time trap and neither of us were keen on destroying our stomachs and our toilet later (spoiler alert, the toilet did in fact get destroyed).
I have absolutely no idea what the positive reviewers here are talking about as that was not our experience, nearly 2! hours to not get our complete order, and the things we did get were garbage. At this point, I’ll qualify my opinion by stating that I’m a commercial fisherman that deals with seafood daily, and I know professionally what good seafood really is, and Seaward Sushi isn’t it. The positive reviews are laughable and just goes to show that people will rave over anything they know little about- i imagine alcohol might help numb the taste buds enough.
Not directly related to the food quality, but severely offensive (and let me be clear, through no fault of the restaurant except for their atrocious service time), was an upset diner sitting next to us who felt the need to complain and treat the staff horribly while using us as an example (we had joked with this customer about the wait times for everything) to bolster his entitled and racist arguments with the staff which nearly turned into a physical altercation in the restaurant with threats of cops being called as well as ICE. To that extent, I’m glad that little boy of an old man had a horrible experience and I hope he continues to have horrible experiences. Unfortunately, his scene was nearly enough to make us leave before paying, and was the final nail in the coffin of our appetite- my wife and I had planned to eat somewhere else.

Quality is off the hook (no pun intended)! Gabriel has a quality establishment. I have been looking forward to checking this place out for years and it’s worth checking out for sure. They are a local spot. I’m positive that they will take care of you and… make sure to be super kind to the staff. They work really hard over there. I am glad that these guys are still around. One of the best sushi joints in Ventura! Keep up the great work you guys!

If you haven’t tried Seaward Sushi you are really missing out! Seaward Sushi has the most amazing atmosphere! There are beautiful murals hand-painted on all of the walls. It would be worth a visit just to see the incredible art! There is a wide variety of different sushi, tempura, and side dishes that you can order. All of the foods are fresh and have excellent flavor. The servers, sushi chef, and the owners who run the place are all super cool pirates!
This restaurant has a very down to Earth vibe with a major touch of class. It is worth driving out to visit this restaurant. I drove 2 hours in one direction to go there for a friend’s birthday bash and I intend to go back again very soon. Everything was so delicious and I just loved Seaward Sushi and highly recommend it to you!!

Want heat and a tasty unique menu , done. Want a 15 minute challenge, they got it. Want friendly service that makes you laugh, it’s there. Want music that I won’t stop singing too no matter how many times my husband asks me to stop, also done!
We didn’t plan on going out today but as we drove by we knew we had to try it. We were not disappointed. While the menus is on the pricer side, the food is worth it. I’m pretty picky and there were a ton of options for me. Even the presentation was 5 stars.

I had a great experience, stopping by around lunch time. The young lady who took my order was attentive, offered great recommendations and had an awesome vibe and attitude. I ordered the Sweet Heart rolls and found them delicious and filling. I ordered a Benito box to go. Parking may be difficult if there are a lot of people, but I had an overall satisfying experience and would recommend it.
