Reasonable prices. Got 1- choice of three, shrimp, clam strips and oysters with fried okra and onion rings hush puppies excellent every bit is good as Riverview Café for $24 for both of us
“roll my eyes up and to the back of my head“ kind of good food. Seasoning was just right. The flounder was crispy in all the right places…But that bottom skin part of the fried flounder was just HEAVENLY . Do yourself a favor and got try them out! 10/10 I recommend!!!!
We both ordered the “big breakfast,” which was a big mistake — and an expensive one, at that! The hashbrowns were very overcooked and barely palatable, and the pancakes were almost tasteless. (I had to drown mine in butter and maple syrup.) I gave my piece of ham to my husband (I’m a vegetarian), and he said that it was so salty, he could barely eat it. (So was his own piece of ham.) The eggs were the only good part of the meal — but then again, it’s very hard to mess up eggs. Definitely NOT worth the $16.50 that we paid for each combo! We also got drinks — coffee (Maxwell House) for me, and OJ for my husband — which were fine but a bit overpriced. (I also made the mistake of placing the order online instead of calling it in — I was charged a “consumer choice” fee!)
The service was lacking, too. When we went in to pick up our order, the girl behind the counter barely acknowledged us. She brought out the food, and then asked if we had ordered drinks, too. (This was AFTER she had given me a receipt to sign — which obviously listed the 2 drinks since I’d placed the order online.) She handed me a cup for the coffee and told me to get the juice from the cooler, and that was it — no “thank you, have a good day,” nothing!
In short, we parted with $43+ for a very mediocre meal, and we didn’t even feel like valued customers. We will NOT be going back!
The restaurant doesn’t have views from the inside, but there are outdoor seats with a nice view if you don’t mind the heat. Since we wanted to cool off, we ate indoors and then took a walk on the pier afterward. All in all, it was the perfect lunch at the beach — and without a doubt, some of the best fried seafood we’ve had on this trip.
I got the boom boom shrimp plate with fries, corn bites and it came with hush puppies. This sounded like a deep-fried delicious nightmare but it was VERY GOOD! Im from up north so boom boom is a little different everywhere I’ve learn but this was a great version as well!
We got it to go, nothing got soggy. Fries were great! Corn bites were shockingly good. This was more than enough for me and my teen to eat and be stuffed!
A meal and two drinks was about $26/27 – sounds high but it’s worth it!
Also to add… we both have sensitive stomachs and neither of us had any upset stomach issue so that was a positve!
The staff was BEYOND friendly. Again being from up north this was a shock to meet such friendly people in NC… from the hotel to the restaurant everyone was so nice and pleasant!
Seating was small – like old school pizzeria table and chairs – maybe a seats a dozen+ but it was very clean! Its attached to the pier entrance so if to you stop by be sure to check out the pier – esp later in the day the views are amazing!
My ONLY “complaint” is the use of Styrofoam cups – especially near a beach! (However the beaches and water were super clean…compared to nj waters lol)
We will be back later in the year and will definitely coke back here for more!!!
