This place is historic and absolutely worth the visit if you are in the area. Getting a Guinness while you are there is basically required. It really is a good spot to grab a drink, pick up a shirt, and take in the history behind it. They have expanded the original building to handle the increase in visitors, but it still feels authentic and keeps the historic character that makes the place what it is.

The oldest pub in the world!! We knew we had to make a stop here on our way from Ashford to Powerscourt. It did not disappoint. There are wood chips on the floor, great decor everywhere you look, part of the original wall of the building, plus they have a great outdoor-ish area if you walk all the way through. We are so happy that we stopped here to take in this bit of history!!

The claim that this place is the “oldest pub in Ireland” is probably about as historically accurate as most Irish legends, but whatever. Anyone whining for food at noon hasn’t grasped the concept: calories must be liquid. Instead of solid food, there’s excellent beer in copious amounts – the only true answer to the Siberian temperatures outside. The fireplace was crackling, the atmosphere was incredibly cozy, and thankfully free of that watered-down American swill à la Coors. If you’re looking for food, this isn’t the place. If you want to linger in style: 5 stars.

being the oldest pub in Ireland, naturally Mrs. A & I had stop in for a pint & we are glad we did. The atmosphere was awesome & Timmy, has many fine stories to tell. While it did not seem like the type of place you go looking to talk with locals, we met people from Canada, AU, US & Scotland, all enjoying the moment. Be sure to check out all of the nooks n crannies, there are many interesting things to see & if inclined: bring a patch – SPA007

A very neat experience, to say, you’ve had a pint of Irish’s finest at the oldest standing bar in Ireland
We enjoyed a quite drink in the back booth. Looking at the treasures found on the walls and relishing in the entire experience. Of how many passersby’s have come through this place, and how many more to come.

We’re here because it’s the oldest. You’re at, or going to Sean’s, because it’s the oldest in Ireland.
The bartenders were nice and informative, though he didn’t know what that doohickey above the window was.
But it doesn’t matter, just look at the head I got. It’s my birthday, so that birthday head.

Sean’s bar is a must see. Just minutes off the metro. Great pints and brilliant whiskey. Had a chat with Tim about whiskey, not sure if he took a breath for the first 30 minutes. Historic and class!!!
