A Warm Bowl by the Water – Great Service, Good Pho, and a Beautiful View

Our visit to Sealand Pho in Nanaimo was a very positive experience. I had the Sealand Special Beef Pho, and it truly hit the mark—the broth was flavorful and well-balanced, the meats were of good quality, and the ratio of noodles to meat was just right. The fresh bean sprouts, lemon wedges, and the excellent chili oil were thoughtful touches that made the dish even more enjoyable.

We also tried one of the vermicelli bowls. While the overall dish was okay, the spring roll lacked a bit of flavor and didn’t taste as fresh. The vermicelli noodles themselves seemed to fall apart a bit—perhaps due to overcooking or the type of noodle used. Still, it was a satisfying meal.

The service was very friendly, and one of the most unique features of Sealand Pho is its stunning location. The view from our table overlooking the water added something truly memorable to the experience. And for a place with such a premium setting, the pricing is more than fair—likely even better than what you’d find in less desirable locations.

There’s room for a few small improvements, but this restaurant shows a lot of heart and potential. Wishing the team at Sealand Pho continued growth and success. May your hospitality and hard work nourish many in this beautiful city.

I learned about this restaurant through a friend’s recommendation. The restaurant has a beautiful and peaceful setting. I tried their new dish, Vietnamese sizzling steak and eggs (Bo Ne), and it was delicious and suited my taste. If you have the chance, you should try it.

10/10 veg Bahn Mi! The avocado and kimchi was a game changer. The baguette was excellent, soft but crunchy. I’ve had many veg Bahn Mi’s in Vancouver but this is the best veg Bahn Mi hands down. The quality is similar to the Bahn Mi’s I had when in the north of Vietnam.

Also, thank you for being so accommodating on the phone call! As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry and to-go services I understand the importance of quality control and freshness.

I ordered the restaurant’s new dish “Vietnamese Steak and Egg” or simply “Sizzling Beef” and it was delicious. You guys should try it. It’s only available at Sealand Pho in Nanaimo.

The views are 10/10. The windows are large and overlook the beautiful blue skies and water. Clean facilities and friendly staff. The Pho noodles and broth taste delicious and came quickly. I also tried their Vietnamese style coffee with condensed milk (cold over ice) which was refreshing on a warm day. Voted best “Pho in town.” This is a great place to go for some delicious filling comfort food!

We had a lovely meal at this place. The menu is extensive, service was great, the venue is sparkling clean. I had a bit of trouble with the ‘heat’ in my dish, but our hosts were happy to provide a couple of things that helped to tone it down for me.

I ordered the Hot and Sour vegetable soup, my companion had the Won Ton soup. There were numerous add ons available.

We have tried a few Pho restaurants in Nanaimo. This one is tops.

There are a few designated parking spots for this restaurant. Important to pay attention.

The view of the harbor is now a bit obscured, but the food cannot be equaled.

Sealand Pho has a great location with a lovely view — definitely a pleasant spot to enjoy a meal. The service was decent, and the atmosphere was relaxing. However, the pho itself was quite average — not bad, but nothing memorable either. I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t have my favorite, Bún bò Huế, on the menu. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

This place is great! The pork banh mi was great, baguette was perfection. We also had pho and the broth was so good. Felt like we were back in Vietnam and can’t wait to come back and try all the different soups.

A nice change from the standard pho restaurant. Ingredients made on site which was delightful. We used the rooftop patio, which had beautiful view of the ocean on a summers August eve and made it a wonderful visit. Large portions ensure that you don’t go home hungry.
