Very chatty, friendly owner. We arrived in a quiet period and as we were choosing our table, a voice from the ether said “Hello!” I looked around and finally spotted a man at a side table with his back to us. The voice must have come from there! I said hello back, then he came to visit us after we sat. The menus were interesting – the name on the leather cover doesn’t match the name of the restaurant, and the wine list has no names or sources, only varieties. Hmm … blind tasting. We started with a glass of pinot grigio and some deliciously fresh oysters, all of a nice size. The wine was perfect for the meal. I had the fishermen’s soup, and was told the broth had been cooked for 14 hours – it was very tasty, but it only had vegies with two mussels and some salmon. I would have liked to also have a prawn or two and perhaps a couple of clams. Wife had the prawn linguine – she loved the flavour and the perfectly cooked prawns.

We had the rockling fish and chips and the lamb chops. The batter for the fish was light and crunchy and the rockling had a nice texture, the lamb chop was inconsistent. Some pieces were overdone and tough and some were chewy.

I visited here for the first time, the young guy was very friendly and helpful.
I’d been recommended to visit through my Rep who I deal with for my own Fish and chip shop.
This
is also a restaurant, great menu and good value for money..
I had the Sea Salt Plate which came out nice and hot with Flake, was very tender and crispy batter.
If you haven’t been would definitely recommend.

A nice place and good sea food. I tried the grilled barramundi fish with salad and fries and it was good.

It’s more expensive now but frankly still a good place.

Had their fish and chips with curry. The fish was fresh and nicely grilled. Curry was also thick (but probably wouldn’t get it again – not worth the price). Chips were on the thicker side but still crispy.

Quick and friendly service too!

The restaurant name is changed. Perhaps a new owner or a rebrand! Ordered 4 fish and chips ( 3 battered and 1 grilled barramundi)
1- I’ve been here a few times in different years and I feel the restaurant quality has changed in the past years and especially this last time.
2- battered fish and chips was alright though I don’t like the veg garnish. It is just a couple of leaves.
3- in the past grilled barramundi or snapper used to be a whole baby snapper or whole baby barramundi but this time the portion was ridiculously small. Additionally, I didn’t like the seasoning and the way it was cooked.
4- new menu was huge and I believe that’s what might lower the quality of the main items which used to be fish and chips.

This review’s intention is to help the business to improve and find the existing issues from one person’s viewpoint and is subjective to my personal opinion. I must say the staff was superb and I appreciate all their efforts they put in to prepare all the foods for the customers. I hope I see many improvements next time:-)

My girlfriend and I had heard about this place through some friends and decided to give it a try. I had the steak, absolutely incredible. Especially for the price, I had mine medium rare and it was cooked exactly how I like it. Vibes here were nice too, felt cosy and warm which was nice as it was very cold outside. Service was great too, can’t complain about anything. Had a great experience would highly recommend. P.s here’s the steak

The best fish and chips in Melbourne. I love the platter for two, and always order battered fish. The fish is crunchy and you can taste the sweet prawn tempura too!
