A charming little spot for surprisingly fresh sushi! When you enter Sea Ranch, you are warmly greeted by the workers and fun atmosphere. They have a collection of Asian groceries and snacks along with a handful of tables for dining. This is a great place for takeout sushi and snacks, and there are lots of different fresh rolls and fish on display ready to buy. Of course, you can place an order as well to eat in. I chose the Sushi Supreme combination, which had a nice collection of nigiri and a few pieces of tuna. All the fish tasted high quality, and the prices weren’t too bad either. If you’re looking for a good balance of simplicity and taste, try Sea Ranch!

What a fantastic experience. Very quick service and delicious food. Their barley tea was the perfect thing for a cold winter day. I got the sushi and sashimi combo. (Disregard other menu prices on older reviews as they are NOT accurate).
One of my only wishes would be to have more seating and make the seating more comfortable.
Also parking might be difficult depending on the busyness.

Really good spot to grab some Japanese groceries and to enjoy a good meal! Had good sushi and sashimi, pretty good quality and well prepared. Also had the chirashi udon combo( what a great deal (fish bowl AND an udon bowl) for $10. Sheesh. In THIS economy? Good food at a great price in a nice environment with good vibes? AND you can pick up some snacks afterwards? Can’t complain!

My goodness what a wonderfully fresh and delicious place. I felt like I was back on the west coast. So many amazing veggie options. The inari tofu was so delicate and the sushi rice was the perfect texture. I wish I took more pics to share. This is comfort sushi at its best. This will be my new go to spot.

Such a cozy and delicious spot for sushi. My husband is a big sushi lover, but as a vegetarian, I usually struggle to find a place where my rolls don’t end up tasting fishy, like they were made in the same prep area. This is the very first place where I can truly enjoy fresh, flavorful vegetarian sushi that tastes amazing on its own. I always order #15. The inari are my absolute favorite, I adore them. The staff here are always so sweet, patient, and helpful. I work just a few steps away, so I come by regularly, and every visit is a consistently great experience.

A cute little shop located in the heart of Evanston, a few blocks away from Northwestern. It’s half restaurant and half market. The store itself is small so selection from the market is limited and more expensive than you would normally find at an ethnic grocery store. But this is Evanston so what do you expect?
The sushi is here is acceptable. Surprisingly good for such a small establishment, but falls FAR short of a dedicated Japanese restaurant. The food here is relatively inexpensive, but probably for a reason. My Tonkotsu Ramen broth was very light in taste/richness (to the point where I could barely taste any pork), and it didn’t even come with any meat or a marinated egg. The noodles were not bad – slightly springy and thick, but this type of noodle would work better with a thicker, richer broth. I’m not joking when I say that the instant ramen that I ate in Japan is better than what I got here. The udon was soggy/mushy and the soup base was one-dimensional and too sweet.

Was pleasantly surprised by my last visit to Sea Ranch – their sushi has improved and the rice was perfectly sticky and fresh, along with the fish. Big improvement from a year ago while prices have remained reasonable. Thank you Sea Ranch for the improved quality!
