Located in the heart of Pittsburgh’s Strip District S&D Polish Deli is a staple for authentic Polish groceries and hot comfort food. Whether you are looking for a quick lunch or stocking up on imported goods it remains one of the city’s most beloved cultural gems. You have to try the perogies here they are fantastic!

I ate at four polish restaurants on this trip in Pittsburgh, and enjoyed the kielbasa the most here vs at all of those other places. It was well seasoned, and delicious and not just boiled but grilled or cooked on the stove/roasted or etc. The perioges and grilled onions were pretty good. The halushki was a tiny bit bland, overall the food was good as a whole. I think my least favorite was the sauerkraut, even though I ended up eating all of it, it was pretty salty and more tangy than I’m used to. I love sauerkraut, and this was the first time I felt it was too salty.

I noticed the lady who helped us with our order was very blasé about everything we asked or talked about which was a little funny and odd. She was nice and polite just seemed disinterested.

Overall it was a neat little place to go to and try more polish food, look through the shop, and enjoy some food with good company. We ate outside on the street and finished everything. I was really looking forward to the stuffed cabbage, but it was not available to us when we arrived earlier in the day. I’ll come back and try them next time I’m in town.

Stopped here prior to a Penguins game for a lunch…the food was hot and fresh. Do not miss out on the kielbasa patter! Pierogis were the best!

Atmosphere- 3 stars- this a takeout/store/deli. Can get very crowded and have a long line depending on the day and time. Not a lot of room to move around and browse.
If you’re not into Polish cuisine, the menu might feel limited. It’s heavy on traditional fare like pierogi, kielbasa, and stuffed cabbage — delicious but not particularly diverse.

Service- 4 stars- it’s hard to rank this because it is counter service. Employees seemed friendly enough though.

Food- 4 stars- 5. Not Made to Order: Much of the food is prepared ahead of time and kept warm — more deli-style than restaurant-style, so don’t expect made-from-scratch speed or presentation. I had the pierogis as well as the Haluski which both were good. The pierogis were stuffed with potatoes and covered with butter and onions but not excessive. They were very filling. Not the best I ever had but not bad. The Haluski was a bit better and was a decent sized serving- fried cabbage, noodles, some kind of cheese and covered with bacon bits. Would get this again.

Not a bad place to stop in for a quick bite but I would not make this my main stop for a full meal.

Nothing really that bad or great here. The food was ok, nothing really stood out. I know freezing items are a necessary evil, but it really takes away something flavor wise, to cuisine such as this. I would still recommend though.

My favorite stop when I visit the strip, although I may be biased because I am Polish! They offer a variety of pierogis and kielbasa, as well as polish candy, canned/jarred goods and a large variety of tea. I picked up some sauerkraut today, next time I would like to try some of the candy they sell as it looks very neat! You can also get a bite to eat from their deli and they have some seating in the back.

Wonderful Polish deli! Home made pierogis, kielbasa, pastries, condiments, etc. Fresh as well as frozen. It was busy. You can get meals. Reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Worth a visit to stock up on your Polish supplies.

Went in for their famous pierogis. It’s a self serve grab and go supermarket.
Got their potato’s & spinach pierogi. Taste was very average for the price charged.

This was a cool little deli, unassumingly tucked in a little like of stores. If I wasn’t actively seeking out authentic, homemade, pirogies I could’ve easily missed it! It looked exactly how I thought it would look quite full of all kinds of goodies. There were no tables inside, but there were several set up outside. I found the pierogies inside and a warming box in portions of four each with several different options. I bought one of each kind and my family and I shared them. They were all delicious! Next time we come back, I will try the Haluska and anything else I can get my hands on. This is about as authentic as it gets, and I would recommend it to anybody who’s in the area!

A gem. It’s really a market with limited seating, but you can find all you need to eat there. The pierogi were incredible, one of the best textures I’ve had. The haluski comes in different varieties but all good. Also an amazing desert section.
