We had an amazing experience. The building wasn’t crowded and the staff was excellent. Alan greeted us at the door and was nothing short of amazing. He gave us directions around town and places to try. Tiffany was our waitress and made us feel like part of the family. She was attentive and quick to get us anything we needed. The food was a taste of home cooking. Fresh and cooked exactly how we liked it. At the end we had a slice of their chocolate chess pie and I have never in my life had a better pie. We will be going back for the pie tomorrow. Thank you so much for the hospitality.

Honestly, I don’t see how this place is still in business. For starters if you’ve never eaten here before, the signage from the street is so small unless you have GPS you won’t see it and then you have to park in the back…really? Then once you get inside, the seating is sooo close you have to dang near whisper so other customers won’t be able to hear your conversation. The booth where we sat, the table was screeching when we moved it to try and sit down and it was a very tight squeeze. The waitress was friendly and attentive. I ordered the small red beans and rice with sausage and my friend ordered the pot roast with mashed potatoes and we both had side salads. As you can see in the picture, they only gave me one side of a sausage, who does that? There was absolutely no taste or seasoning on the beans or rice. I requested that my sausage be burnt but it wasn’t. They charged $2.50 for an extra sausage which was bigger than what was initially given with the meal but did include both sides of sausage but was not cooked as well as the first piece. The cornbread provided with the meal was as big as my 2 hands put together but again it had no taste. The salad was simply iceberg lettuce, cucumbers, and grape tomatoes with watered down ranch dressing. My friend’s pot roast had the consistency of refried beans but was chocolate in color so not appealing or tasty in any way. We finished our salads but not our meals.

This place is so under-rated. If you’re looking for great southern cooking, this is the place to be. I ordered chicken fried chicken with fried okra and grilled veggies. Husband ordered Ruben with fried okra. We both truly enjoyed our meal. We also saved room for dessert. We ordered brownie with ice cream and pecan cobbler with ice cream. Pecan cobbler was way better, enough for 2 people to share. Don’t go to chain restaurants and come to Scrooge’s. Hopefully, Misty will be working to help make the experience extra special.

The food was ok. My fried chicken thigh was beautifully fried. But wasn’t seasoned. However, the service is awesome! Everyone is very friendly.

Food is good, service sucks!! We drove 7 hours to meet up with family to do a kids swap and decided to eat here because the reviews were great. We went in about 1pm on a Saturday. Not busy at all!! Maybe 3 other families in there. We ordered nachos(kids said meat was gross), chicken dickins(pretty good), nachos with just cheese and jalapeños(cheese was not melted), shrimp po boy(very good), beef steak(it was alright), chicken gumbo(really good), chicken fried steak(they put brown gravy when asked for white specifically, they took it back, wipes the top off and put white gravy on top and brought it back to the table with brown gravy still on the bottom. We didn’t eat that meal at all and the manager took it off the bill). I didn’t receive my beer for like 10 minutes after the rest of my party received there’s. I never received the salad I ordered(also took this off the bill). Overall, the food was good, but the service sucks!!! Will not be back!
