Very nice, cozy little place with great food. The cinnamon rolls were excellent! Breakfast burritos and hash browns were pretty good. The value for the breakfast tacos was really surprising. Three very good-sized tacos for $2.50! Our server was a little frantic, but still did a good job. The chef came out and checked on us at one point and was quite friendly. Worth stopping in if you are staying in the area.

Place came recommended to us by a local while my friends and I were in town to visit the state park. Typically my expectations are lower in smaller towns/rural areas for a myriad of reasons.
Let me just say that every single item that we tried on the menu was exceptional! I had the pimento cheese on sourdough, with waffle fries. That sourdough (chefs kiss) rivals anything I’ve ever had in a large city. I might even go as far as to say it’s the best bread I’ve ever eaten. Not exaggerating.
Waffle fries were perfectly fried. Crisp but not greasy. Sweet potato fries also earn a top recognition in the fry playbook.
After exceeding our expectations we opted to try dessert. Hesitant as I was seeing it in the fridge up front, Their strawberry cake & their carrot cake shocked us with their moist spongy texture, and the depth of spicy flavor. I’ve had a lot of dry restaurant cake, (that came highly recommended by locals) this wasn’t it. It was absolutely divine!
Do yourself a favor and eat just about anything on this menu.
(We didn’t have room to try the rolled ice cream but we did see them make one for a customer and it looked fantastic as well)

First of all the amount of food you get for the price is excellent. Most of the food is made homemade on site and it’s delicious. Sometimes the food is a little slower to get to you because it is homemade so if you’re in a hurry, maybe try another place but if you have time to kick back and enjoy a nice country meal, some comfort food. This is your place. The staff is extremely friendly and personable. The prices are good, especially for the amount of food you get the desserts are fantastic. And the daily specials are often unique. They do catering, Office parties for me. I like to go in and sit down and enjoy a nice meal in a cozy little atmosphere.

Food was excellent. Chicken tenders were hand dipped and delicious. Country fried steak was extra large and husband loved it. Healthy side choices and good rolled ice cream. Nice atmosphere. One of our favorite places.

This is the CUTEST place ever. We love Byrdstown and we recently found The Scratch Kitchen by accident. I got the chicken sandwich IT WAS SO GOOD. My husband got the salad bar. That salad bar was absolutely loaded. Then I got rolled ice cream. This place was amazing. I absolutely recommend it. Our waitress was the sweetest. Best place ever.

Stopped by for a bite to eat on my way home, and I had a delicious BLT salad, with very fresh and crisp veggies and absolutely delicious chunks of crispy fried chicken. The ranch dressing tasted homemade and was a great addition to the salad, which was on special that day, I might add. Their menu has a pretty good variety of sandwiches, and they’ve got rolled ice cream!!! This little restaurant is small and cozy, very clean and inviting. The two ladies who were working there were super nice! I will definitely go back and try some of the burgers and sandwiches.

Took my kids there hoping they had ice cream. We absolutely loved the atmosphere, the ice cream, the technique, the prices, all of it. I can picture coming here on a nice cool day to sit outside and eat lunch at one of their patio tables. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. We can’t wait to return!
