I recently stopped by Schu’s Grill and Bar for dinner and had a great experience from start to finish. The restaurant is easy to get to and offers an amazing view, which really adds to the overall atmosphere and makes it a relaxing place to enjoy a meal.
I ordered the chicken quesadilla since I was just looking for something quick, and it exceeded my expectations. It was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Even though I didn’t dive deep into the menu this time, I couldn’t help but notice how large and varied the food selection is, with plenty of options for anyone looking for a full meal or just a casual bite.
The staff were very attentive and welcoming, checking in without being overbearing and making sure everything was taken care of. The entire establishment was clean, organized, and clearly very well maintained, which always makes a big difference.
Between the quality of the food, the excellent service, the beautiful view, and the overall atmosphere, Schu’s Grill and Bar is a place I would highly recommend. I’ll definitely be back to try more of what they have to offer.

My wife and I timed our outdoor sidewalk-table dinner to coincide with a beautiful sunset. Our meal was delicious. The service was good. The view was great. Recommended!

Right off of the lake and has a beautiful view! We got potato and lobster bisque soup. Both were very good. For entree we got a salmon salad, crab cakes and fish tacos. Crab cakes small but divine. The fish tacos weren’t for me as the sauce on it was sweet but other than that good proportion size. We got a lava cake and cream brûlée for dessert. Both were lovely. Server was very patient with us up until a point and then became distant, which was understandable but we were ready to order desert 20 minutes before she came back to us. Only complaint! Owner was very sweet and enjoyable! Would come back again.

We have been traveling around Michigan for the past several years. Our focus is lake towns along Lake Huron, Lake Superior and of course my favorite, Lake Michigan. This year we focused on the lake towns on Lake Michigan’s southern part in Western Michigan. St. Joseph is a town situated on the St. Joseph River and Lake Michigan. We looked for a nice place to eat and chose Schu’s Grill & Bar. They were busy at lunch, but we were still able to be seated outside and were treated wonderfully throughout our stay. Our drinks and food arrived quickly for a busy lunch crowd, and we loved our fish tacos. Very efficient and friendly service and lovely seating area outside. Another beautiful day to add to our memories of St. Joseph’s on Lake Michigan. Thank-you Schu’s Grill and Bar.

We visited today for the first time while we were at the beach. Jaylie, our server, was a gem!!! She was so kind, quick with refills, and was amazing with our kids. Her runners were also so polite. The food was great. We had calamari for our appetizer and it’s the best we’ve had. The spices and breading were perfect and crisp. The tiny basket of fries in the kids meals were a hit for the kids (and adults) The Schu’s Margarita was a great choice. My husband had the fish and chips and enjoyed it. We will definitely be back!

Schu’s is a must-visit. The service is excellent, even during the busiest times, and the smash burger and fries are absolutely top-notch—easily some of the best around. The quality and flavor keep us coming back every time. The bartender is very friendly ( I wish I remembered her name, but somehow she remembers us – along with our order)
The location is great, and while it’s understandably very busy during peak season, it’s especially perfect in the fall and winter when things slow down just enough to really enjoy the experience. Great food, great service, the best bartender and a spot that truly stands out year-round.

Our family dinned at Schu’s for a celebration. There were 7 of us. The food was delicious and served exactly as we ordered. Danielle was our server and did an excellent job of knowing what we wanted and always had a smile and super friendly. We look forward to our next visit. We highly recommend this restaurant to our family and friends. Thank you!

What a cool place. Outdoor seating with a great view of the Lake. A terrific place to come with friends and family to enjoy the good vibes and get some good eats. We had a delightful server. I went out on a limb and tried an olive burger finally. I’m not sure I will again, but that isn’t their fault.
