Schulman’s bears the name of David “Skull” Schulman, the proprietor of Skull’s Rainbow Room and originator of the first true dive bar in Nashville. Schulman’s brings the honest come one, come all, come-as-you are culture to our East Nashville neighborhood. Solid food, cold beer, shots, unpretentious cocktails and a local staff of friendly, familiar faces await you.

Schulman’s is definitely my new favorite spot in Nashville! A no frills, clean, friendly, old-school, LP playing, outstanding place to hang alone or with friends. They make the most incredible cheeseburger in Nashville! Keep that sucker wrapped up in the paper as you eat it. LOL!

Where do I start..Schulman’s is your typical run of the mill dive bar, however your service will depend on who’s behind the bar. Sometimes they “don’t make off menu drinks”, other times “we can make anything”, and it’s really inconsistent.
Either way, nine times out of ten, whoever is behind the bar will give you a “what do you want”, type of greeting with a frown.
Very unpleasant.
The burger is the best thing on the menu but it doesn’t come with fries or anything. The handful of times I ordered fries additionally they come out cold or appearing refried and inedible.
The retro vibe of the place is neat, that’s a plus. They have a smoking section/patio which is always aggressively Smokey and it always makes its way indoors. Don’t wear your nice clothes here if you’re worried about smelling like an ash tray, regardless of the amount of time you spend here. I always have to shower immediately after leaving.
There is always a bouncer at the door who never seems friendly despite how polite and quick you are to pull out your ID.
There are endless other options for a drink or quick bite, consider yourself lucky if you haven’t stopped in here yet. The only thing that made me stop in here more than once is the fact that it’s within walking distance of my house. I won’t make that mistake again.

Looking for a classic bar with a great atmosphere, tasty food, and affordable prices? Schulman’s is the place for you! The menu is simple, but everything on it is excellent. The fried bologna sandwich is a classic, but the pastrami dip was insanely good. My husband loved the rumaki—if you’re a chicken liver fan, it’s a must-try. The pickles are huge and have just the right amount of spice. The atmosphere truly gives off a classic vibe, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. Great food, great feel—highly recommend!

Retro meets neighborhood! Very chill vibes! Like where can you find a real live DJ spinning real vinyl in a bar? The burgers were OUTSTANDING! And messy in a good way! And the appetizers (chili cheese fries and fried pickles) were delish! A great place to meet old friends…and new ones too!

Seat yourself and order at the bar. Bartender was annoyed we order food and drinks. Apparently talking to a girl at the bar was more important. Food was decident bar food. No corn dog tho. But it’s still on the menu. Fried pie was undercooked. Fries were crispy and fried pickles were good. Burger was good. Darts were fun but crowded.

Heard this place had great burgers. The burgers were decent. Not great but they were pretty good (good enough to eat again). This place did have a cool vibe. We did not realize you order at the bar. It would’ve been great to know that so FYI.
Smoking is in the back bar. They do have darts but as we found it stays pretty packed. They don’t have much parking at all so you have to find street or paid parking.

Best cheeseburger I’ve found in East Nashville. Great drinks, cheap beer, and darts is a major plus. You can even burn a heater in the back if you so desire. The Griswold Theme was spectacular.

Can a dive bar be upscale? Or maybe this is a casual lounge? In any case this is now one of my top choices for bars in Nashville. They did everything right, as far as I’m concerned. Simple menu executed to perfection. Clean and stylish interior. Plenty of space, even when crowded. Kitchen closes at 1:30am, which is important because they might have the best burger in Nashville. And I’ve had more than my share. Nothing fancy about it, just done well.

Really nice spot in a great area. Vibe is dead mellow, bar is really nicely fitted out and it’s a super place chill out for a bit. Burger could be better but it was decent and the general atmosphere makes it a worthwhile stop off

I enjoy the energy of this place. The service is always great. I like that it’s like 2 bars in 1 place, with comfortable indoor and outdoor bar seating. Sometimes they have sweet deals, which is very appealing for a neighborhood bar. It’s clean, and the food is good. Will be back!
