A gem hidden from the world, lost in time but still alive and beautiful. Ripe with history and an experience only found here. I got to spend an hour there meeting Rida, Larry the owner, John and Housche. These guys chewed the straw with me and told me all about the town, the work, and their cars. It was an experience only i got and I will forever remember it and be greatful.

Rita is a sweetheart. The food is like the best home cooked style you can imagine.
The building closed as a school in 2000 and has been used as a cafe, community shop, garage, gym, hairdressers, and an Air BnB.
There are high school leavers photos on the walls around.
Great place to come off the trail and rest an hour

So good! Their prices are cheap. Food is fresh. It’s the only eatery off the historic 184.5 mile long towpath near Lock 70. See pics! The $6.89 club sandwich is one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had! Impressively delicious!

Food was good didn’t appear to be prepackaged. The coffee was good especially after a morning of riding. Service wasn’t slow it just took longer to prepare fresh food. And the atmosphere, eating in a restaurant in a school that was a first for me

Very friendly and welcoming staff. Great food at reasonable prices. Learn about the history of town by looking at the year pictures of the closed school the restaurant now resides in. There is a convenience store, a hair dresser and car mechanic in the old school. They prefer cash, but also take square.

Stopped here while riding the C&O trail on our bikes. They happened to be closed for maintenance, unexpectedly, but they came out and greeted us, filled up our bottles with ice water, and let us buy a few snacks for the road from their little mini-mart.
Sorry we missed the hot food, but glad to meet the staff

Definitely a pleasant surprise for breakfast one morning. The French toast and ham were awesome. The old school setting is very unique. Well worth the stop especially if you are riding the GAP trail.

Stopped here for breakfast recently. The food was good and the staff are friendly. Can’t beat the prices either. They also have a little store area where you can purchase food related items.
