My wife and I really enjoyed the breakfast here, especially the homemade white and rye bread. Sue was super nice and gave us great recommendations. A lot of nice locals in the area having a good breakfast. While it’s small, it does have a good number of tables and really fun decorations on the walls.

Stop… you HAVE to just stop here. We were on our way to the cities and decided to “try this place”. What in the world? Everything, literally everything that we had for breakfast was absolutely, ridiculously, DELICIOUS! The coffee was tasty, fresh, and smooth, the stuffed hash browns with eggs was crazy good, the rye bread is homemade, thick, and delicious. The biscuits and gravy was the best I’ve ever had and I’m a biscuits and gravy snob of sorts. There was a small cup of bread pudding that was so, so good! The cinnamon rolls and caramel rolls are bigger than my head and are freshly AMAZING!!!! I’m not sure what kind of mad sorcery was going on in the back kitchen but my goodness you ladies outdid yourselves! WOW! We will be back! Thank you for making our morning so much more pleasurable!

If you’re cruising through McGregor, MN, make sure to stop by the School House Cafe. This charming spot, housed in a quaint schoolhouse replica, offers a delightful experience from start to finish. The menu is packed with hearty breakfast and lunch options, all made from scratch. Favorites include the Garden Scrambler, Dad’s Turn to Cook with a Pancake, and the Dagwood Sandwich. And don’t miss their legendary caramel rolls—one is enough to share between two people!

School House Cafe is one of our favorite breakfast spots!! The carmel rolls are large enough to share. The pancakes are the size of the plate and absolutely delicious. The french toast are giant Texas toast pieces of goodness.

This place has the cutest atmosphere!!

My dad and I were on a motorcycle ride heading to Duluth. Was early morning and we were hungry. We didn’t know if we were going to stay at first but the lady walked up to us warm and friendly and seated us. The atmosphere was old hometown from days of old. The hot cup of coffee was just what we needed as our morning on the bike was a brisk one. We ordered our food and when we received it it was definitely hot and fresh. ( I took a bite too quick and did the whole open mouth hot hot hot bit) Dad had millies veggie stuffed hashbrowns and I had the country skillet and we both had the cook’s homemade sweet rye bread. The portions were large for the price and oh my goodness it was delicious. The bread just had a slightly sweet taste to it and the melted butter was spread perfectly across the top. You ever get overly excited about food? Yeah that was the both of us. Kids at Christmas if you will. Lol. We stuffed ourselves to the point of a much needed nap would soon follow in the near future. ( I actually dozed off on the back of the bike about an hour later) I loved the atmosphere, the hustle and bustle of the breakfast crowd in a small town Cafe and the breakfast was just absolutely perfect. Cannot express just how wonderful it all was. I regret not being able to eat that last slice of sweet rye bread but I just couldn’t push myself to do it. 10/10 would definitely make the trip again if I ever get the opportunity. (I live in iowa) I saved the location in my maps for future reference.

Very good food with generous servings and well worth the wait as everything is made from scratch no boxed omlettes or frozen hamburger patties they are made right there from scratch every thing added by the cook herself who is amazing the service is good could use more then one server on busy days but they really try . And the personalities of the staff are bubbly funny and make your day . Ang and sue are among my favorites!

This was the worst iced latte I’ve ever had in my life. She forgot if I ordered iced or hot, forgot the size and forgot if we paid or not. We were the only customers in the building. I would have said something about the latte but we got our drinks to go and I didn’t try mine until we left. I’m pretty sure it was just watered down and that she didn’t put any milk in it. I’ll never stop here again. We ordered a small coffee and a small iced latte and the total was $12.00, for that price I expected a decent latte. I was so disappointed in this place.

This place is my favorite of all time!! The main cook makes the best chicken salad sandwich. I could eat a whole loaf of that sweet rye bread. They are struggling with young staff like most people but any inconveniences is totally worth it!!! You always get large portions here! Stopping here is a must for me whenever I am driving through even if it isn’t a meal time.

Im a truck driver, I stopped in here for breakfast after delivering my load. I can’t say enough about how fantastic it was. The food was otherworldly good. The lady cooking was just like my grandmother back home, she was friendly, social and made AMAZING food. The young ladies serving tables were the most beautiful girls I have ever laid my eyes on. They were sweet as the desert was friendly and the service was 11/10. I can’t say enough about how much it’s worth going here. This place is 3000 miles from my home and I have a trip planned to go up there just to eat here again.

Very cute, small restaurant. Home made food in large portions. Ordering the extra plate and sharing an order would be well worth it! Baked goods looked to die for, however the portions are so large there just wasn’t room for dessert!
