We started with drinks, and I ordered the espresso martini, which was hands down one of the best espresso martinis I’ve had in Syracuse so far. It was so good that if I go back, I’m absolutely ordering it again. I also got to try a few of my friends’ drinks, and every single one was excellent. Whoever the bartender was did an amazing job — everyone at the table loved their cocktails.
For appetizers, we all ordered something different (which I highly recommend), so it felt like we got to try almost the entire menu. We had the fried calamari, house bruschetta, mozzarella prosciutto toast, jumbo tempura shrimp, and oysters.
The oysters were incredibly fresh — honestly the best oysters I’ve had in Syracuse. We ordered about two dozen, and I personally had five or six of them. They were that good.
For my main dish, I ordered the stuffed rigatoni, and it was amazing — creamy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Others at the table had dishes like fennel sausage ravioli, a special salad, burgers, and a grilled salmon burger, and everyone loved their food. There wasn’t a single complaint at the table.
What really stood out to me, though, is that you can immediately tell this is a restaurant where the chef truly loves what he does. Every dish felt intentional, like it was made with care and pride. We learned the chef has been doing this for about 10 years, and you can absolutely taste the experience. He even came out to greet us and say hello, which you don’t see often — and that alone says a lot. He went above and beyond, just like the rest of the staff.
We ended the night with dessert, which was just as impressive. The apple crisp with caramel and ice cream was delicious and not overly sweet — the ice cream paired perfectly with it. The Italian lemon cake was also incredible. I’ve been to Italy and loved their lemon desserts, and this one genuinely reminded me of that — light, fluffy, creamy, and perfectly balanced.
Our server, Nicole, was absolutely amazing. She was so kind, attentive, and made sure to check on us throughout the entire night. If you go here, ask for Nicole — she truly made the experience even better.
The only item that wasn’t my personal favorite was the shrimp tempura with blue cheese. The dish wasn’t bad at all — the blue cheese was just a bit overpowering for me and took away from the shrimp flavor. That said, if you’re a blue cheese lover, this is probably an amazing appetizer for you.
Overall, this restaurant is a true gem in Syracuse. I’ve honestly never heard anyone talk about it before, but after this experience, I will absolutely be telling everyone I know to go try it. We’re already planning to go back.
I called ahead (on the same day) to make a reservation, which is recommended. They were full by the time we got there. We were seated quickly, but waited a while for service. It seemed like there were only 2 servers that night, and they were both running back and forth from the host position to grabbing drinks to getting the food out.
I ordered the steak frites. It was good, but a bit salty for my tasting. The fries had a heavy coating of Parmesan cheese which made it too salty.
The atmosphere and vibe is nice and romantic. However in the winter it does get cold as it’s an older building and when people enter/exit the restaurant a draft gets let in.
Overall, it was an okay experience. I’d come back in the summer just to see if things are different.
Decent beer selection. Always a refreshing sangria selection available.
Menu and specials are always good. We often split several apps as they tend to be our favorites, but you can’t go wrong.
Staff are always friendly. Bar staff are especially kind and knowledgeable.
The food was very good. I got the Bleu burger. It came out relatively quickly and was fresh and good quality ingredients. The beef was fresh and everything was prepared meticulously. The fries were incredible. All very top notch. Prices were appropriate for the quality of the setting and the food. I had a martini and it was equally top notch.
The setting is a renovated old school. Very hip and the interior is done beautifully. Warm, casual, and vibrant with a high end country pub kind of vibe. The restaurant was very clean and well maintained.
I met a couple friends for dinner here. I was late getting there so they ordered thier dinners before I got there. When I got there it took forever for anyone to acknowledge me and take my drink or dinner order. A couple times we actually tried to catch the attention of our server. Both times she walked right by not even saying anything and she clearly saw us and heard us. My friends were almost done with thier meal before I could order. That was a little weird and the only reason I’m taking off one star. Maybe they didn’t anticipate the business and ended up a little short staffed, but the staff ignoring me didn’t seem like a good work around.
I’ll certainly go again and I recommend it as the food and setting are a great quality experience and better than many in the area.
