Schnitzel Fritz – Widefield/Security, Colorado
My pregnant daughter was craving vinegary German food, so we decided to try Schnitzel Fritz — and I’m so glad we did! We’ve officially tried all the German restaurants around here (Edelweiss, Uwe’s, etc.), and this one takes the win for freshness and authenticity.
Edelweiss lost me when I found metal in my food, and Uwe’s was serving steamed frozen vegetables, which is just… no thanks. But Schnitzel Fritz? Total opposite. Everything here is fresh, flavorful, and clearly made from scratch — no out-of-the-bag veggies in sight!
Yes, it’s a little on the pricey side, but it’s a small mom-and-pop “hole in the wall” restaurant, and honestly, it’s worth every penny for the quality and care they put in.
Now, for those complaining that “German food is too vinegary” — y’all just don’t understand traditional German cuisine. That tangy flavor is part of its history and charm!
The only small thing I’d tweak is the cucumber salad — the dressing is so good (a homemade dill and cream cheese mix, NOT ranch ), but the cucumbers could be drained a bit more so it’s not watery. Still, the flavor is amazing and it comes with fresh homemade bread that’s absolutely delicious.
Their desserts are awesome, too — and the people running the place are super sweet and welcoming.
All in all, this spot met every one of my daughter’s pregnancy cravings and then some! We’ve already been back a couple of times, and I’m sure it won’t be our last stop. ❤️

Love the food (moderate size menu) and I love the desserts that I only indulge in once every six months or so . They are never lock jaw sweet( no diabetic comas).I ate half the cake ( see the photo). And they have select flavors of ice cream. There are German and European foods for sale. Natural soaps and other items.

This is the best German restaurant I’ve been into in a long time. The food is authentic and absolutely wonderful. I couldn’t help but reminisce about my time being stationed in Germany and how much I have missed the traditional style of the food. This definitely brought back fond memories that my taste buds remembered. And the small market area is full of so many things I loved and enjoyed when living there. I couldn’t help but pick up a few things to take with us. You will not be disappointed by trying this restaurant out. And I guarantee that you will be returning again and again as I plan to do.

Enjoyed our meals, very authentic, no complaints! Worth going back. Also enjoyed their homemade banana cake and homemade gelato. Lots of food comes on the dinner plate; plenty of people took to-go containers. Lunch plate sounds small, but is also a good amount of food. Clean eatery with a small but friendly staff.

What a lovely little restaurant! The food was delicious and definitely a fair price. The owner was just so sweet and you can tell she puts love into her food. They also have some fresh breads/desserts along with gelato and a small little shop with German imported goods.
We’ll definitely be making this one of our regular lunch spots!

This place is incredible! The food tastes like home. Everything was perfectly cooked and the portions were huge. The little market has a bit of everything and the service was fast and friendly. I would give this place 11 stars if I could!

Delicious food for those who want to try a schnitzel! I had the Jager Schnitzel and it was very tasty! Come here for some very authentic food! A bakery is inside as well which offers fresh bread. Restaurant is very bright and clean. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable on the desserts. I took food to go and it was just as fresh as when they placed it in the containers. Toilets are very clean. German snacks and boxed items available for purchase. Military discount is Sunday and Mondays and if you are in uniform.
