Amazing deli you MUST try! Fast and friendly service- even though they are busy. They have amazing Reuben sandwiches and homemade sides- we love the German potato salad. The carrot cake is so enticing it beckons us from behind the counter each time we visit. There are also rotating soups daily -our faves are the dill pickle soup and the mushroom soup. Fresh brewed tea (always a plus) and fountain sodas available.

Great Sandwiches at Schnitz Deli
Schnitz Deli in Grand Rapids is a popular spot, especially during lunch. It’s a place where you order and pick up your food at the counter. It’s always busy, but the staff is friendly and the line moves fast.
People love the sandwiches here. They pile the meat high and put it between really tasty bread. The sauces and extras they add are yummy too. It’s just a really good, big sandwich that makes for a great meal.
It’s easy to see why folks like to come here. The food is straightforward but really good. It’s the kind of place you might find yourself going back to over and over because you know you’re going to get something delicious. The sandwiches are made with care and you can taste it.

Disappointed by my most recent visit to Schnitz. I’ve been getting take out here for several years. Normally their sandwiches are huge, made to order and packed with meat which I enjoy. However today’s sandwich barely had any meat on it nor did they put any sauce on the bread. So I basically had dry bread with like 3 slices of meat for lunch. I can’t even try to excuse this by saying it was due to the lunch rush when I ordered at 1:30pm and the deli was quite chill when I arrived to pick up my food.

Evan’s Double Dip: Corned beef and pastrami were tender and delicious. Didn’t need the extra slice of bread between them. Tuna Melt: meh tuna salad and too little cheese. Friendly staff. Crowded at lunchtime.

Very disappointed with my last order. I’ve been going her for 20+ years and their sandwiches are normally packed with meat. I got a number 8 & 6 and both had a few slices of meat but was mainly bread. Not sure what happened but they just lost a loyal repeat customer. From other reviews looks like other folks have noticed the cut back on portions as well but the price of the sandwiches increased.

These sandwiches mean business. They are huge. Could easily split this with someone. They are delicious. I really enjoyed the Chicago Ruben, potato salad and banana cake.

This deli is the best! Delicious food and super kind people. Even when I don’t come in for a sandwich, one of the ladies still catches me outside to give my dog a treat. I love these guys!!

One of the Best Deli’s in Grand Rapids!! I went here with my family for a quick bite to eat and it was great! They have a huge selection of sandwiches to choose from and a ton of homemade sides to go with it. This shop has a great Downtown-Deli Feeling and has fast service as well. For sure coming back when I can

Place has gone down hill. Was hesitant to go back but thought I would give it another shot. This is probably my 4th bad experience here.
Got the reuban like I normally do. The one sandwich I thought you really can’t mess up. Bread is cut super thin like 1 ply your fingers poke right through it into the “meat”. Barely toasted. Corned beef was luke warm, piled in a ball in the center and looked/tasted like some stuff you pick up at Meijer on sale. Sauerkraut was was more juice then anything. The 1000 island was good though. The Swiss was there but only visually. My pickle was limp and soft like a bad piece of meat. The best part was the soda and chips, both of which they don’t make.
Not going back again, place is done and over in my book.
