Not great pizza. Probably better place just to hang out and drink. The bartender was nice. A girl working there hung around not working and taking lots of cigarette breaks. The pizza was just nothing special. Like something I could easily make at home in the microwave. We got the margherita and the schmizza (meat). Meh

Schmizza Pub & Grub is a fantastic neighborhood staple with excellent food and a welcoming atmosphere. However, the management leaves much to be desired; one might suggest the leadership requires an exorcism. The management style is strikingly reminiscent of Lord Farquaad.. operating with a bizarrely detached sense of authority. Despite the questionable ‘monarch’ at the helm, it remains a great family-friendly spot for pizza.

Paid 50 dollars for what appeared to be a pizza that was several days old. The meat stunk and the crust was soggy. The pasta was a solid mass, like the portion had been precooked and refrigerated who knows how many days prior. The bread that came with the pasta was moldy and had black spores that spread throughout the piece. They forgot our drinks, and the bartender kept stopping to watch TV while he made them for us. He was otherwise friendly. It’s clear that the owners do not prioritize their food quality or safety, or this wouldn’t be happening. Worst pizza of my life. Save yourself the food poisoning and avoid this establishment.

They have great pizza as well as a bar. Only reason I gave them 4 stars for service was because it was super busy. The service was great. Maybe they were short a person etc.. the place was clean and food was great. I will be back

I had a great time here after a long day. I was in the mood for a quick bite around 11pm, and most places around me were closed, and I remembered this place wasn’t too far from me. The bartender was great. The pizza prices seem to be on track with downtown Portland. They have a good drink menu as well. The place wasn’t crazy loud too, which was very refreshing.

Absolutely delicious pizza, very impressed by the size and price. The Thai peanut wings were also exceptional. Wanted the “spaghetti meatball pizza” I saw online, apparently this location doesn’t offer it; they still made it but with chicken and I appreciated the accommodation. Inside dining area was small and busy, sat outside and it took a minute to get noticed. Service was friendly.

I came in around 10:00PM — the posted hours say they close at 11:00 — and ordered a large pizza. The woman making pizzas looked at the clock and clearly hesitated, like she didn’t want to make it. Another employee even said, “I’m going to have to sweet talk her into making it.”

Then I was told they “only serve single slices after 10 PM.” If that’s true, they should just change their hours to close at 10, because customers who come in before closing should be able to order a full pizza. I ended up spending around $30 and walked out feeling unwelcome. The energy was terrible — you could practically taste the attitude in the food.

What’s frustrating is that I’ve since read other reviews saying this same thing has been happening for years, so clearly management hasn’t fixed it. People like me who work late rely on the few places that are still open, and being turned away or treated like an inconvenience is just bad business.

I hope ownership finally takes this feedback seriously, because the staff’s attitude and “slices only after 10” policy are driving away customers who actually want to support a local spot. I wonder how much money your losing out on due to your employees laziness

AVOID-FOOD POISONING!
Girlfriend and I stopped by while watching a show at the Keller Auditorium. Both of us were starving so neither of us took all of the warning signs to avoid this place seriously.
* Homeless that smell are crowded in the lottery room.
* Terrible Service – Bartender lacks basic social skills and acted more annoyed that he had to work.
* Beer has a soapy taste
* Pizza wasn’t cooked all of the way

Both of us ended up the night with food poisoning. Trust me – we will never go back to this place.

Edit: Had to update this review and lower it after a long time not going here. They are actually sending me spam text message ads now with my phone number they require when you place an online order with them. Gross and weird behavior. Yuck.

Finally gave up on this place as a long time resident of the neighborhood.

You never know what you’ll get as far as quality. Can be anywhere in the range of pretty good to under cooked with unmelted cheese and barely cooked toppings. Big thick bready crusts are consistently unappetizing. Prices have more than doubled on by-the-slice in a few short years.

The bartenders who take the orders are consistently just… grumpy. A little rude and terse and brief unless you’re one of their regulars they get lost in conversation with (sometimes some pretty personal stuff better left out of earshot of the customers!)

Overall just not good.
