The all time classic sandwich in Derby on Rock Road. Here is the one place that I rarely shift on my order because the traditional sandwich is just too good to skip. The fresh sourdough bun is what makes the meal unbeatable, and the meat and veggie toppings are perfect with the mustard dressing. Unfortunately I’ve found that the value meals have climbed to ridiculous prices these days and I’ve never been too impressed with service at this location either. I do like grabbing lunch here though and just skip any sides or drinks. With so many premium sandwiches in the area, I still believe this one to be in the top five in Derby and I can recommend visiting this Schlotzsky’s.

I loved, loved, loved Schlotzky’s & went there often until they recently stopped making their dark rye bread. I discovered them over 40 years ago & went there often during that long period of time. I always ordered my favorite sandwich on dark rye bread, & that bread is what made it my favorite sandwich & why I went to Schlotzky’s so often, so now I rarely go to Schlotzky’s. I’ve tried the sandwich on different bread options, but it’s not nearly as good, so no thank you. There are too many other food options at other restaurants that I enjoy, so I’m not settling for a sandwich that I don’t really enjoy. If they bring back the dark rye bread, I’ll become a regular customer again.

Server told us to try their pizza someday. We put off so long. OMG this is AMAZING pizza! A++ outstanding pizza!! Special price on some days & times. I had veg & it really was fantastic! I’m going to call it- best pizza I have ever had!

Food quality has never been an issue here. What has been was the wait, wait times so long that after we have paid 3 cars drove around us from getting tired of waiting. I almost asked for a refund today because my toddler was melting down in the back and they seemed to be working on other orders and kept trying to give us other peoples food instead of our order

Rose was our cashier upon our first time eating at this location, she was friendly and polite. I ordered a pick 2 with the cheddar broccoli soup and a turkey bacon club. The sandwich was amazing but the soup wasn’t very warm. More like a Luke warm temperature, which isn’t really my thing. The food was good though. Rose did her best to keep the lobby cleaned as people came in and out.

So the Derby location has finally opened!
Our visit today was good, unfortunately this being their 2nd day opened 1/2 of the crew called in so there were only 2 employees but they were troopers and still operated drive thru only leaving the lobby closed the food was good and the staff is very friendly and the drive thru moved quickly even given the circumstances.
My husband ordered the
roast beef and cheese with chips and a drink.
I ordered the #2 turkey and avocado on sourdough with chips and a drink.
Our total cost for this visit was $25.71.
We will probably go back when they open the lobby because the sandwiches are a little difficult to eat in the car, otherwise thank you Schlotsky’s for coming to Derby.
