Scena Fusion Kitchen & Bar is a beautiful new addition to La Mesa with a warm, modern ambiance that makes it perfect for date night or a special dinner out. The space feels elevated yet welcoming, and the service was attentive throughout our visit.
We ordered a variety of dishes to share, and overall the food was very solid. The polpo alla griglia was tender and flavorful, and the ricotta-stuffed squash blossoms were a standout. The penne arrabbiata had a nice kick, and the prosciutto pomodoro was fresh and well balanced. The 16oz ribeye was cooked nicely and satisfying, though not the most memorable steak I’ve had — still enjoyable. Drinks were on point, especially the Scena lemon drop, and the Paolo Sordo paired well with the meal.
While everything was good, a few dishes felt just shy of amazing, which is why I’m giving it four stars instead of five. That said, the ambiance, menu variety, and overall experience make this a place I’d absolutely return to and recommend. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. The food was outstanding, especially the lasagna — hands down one of the best I’ve had. Perfectly layered, rich, and full of flavor. You can tell it’s made with care and quality ingredients.
The service made the experience even better. Cass was amazing — attentive, friendly, and made us feel genuinely welcomed without ever being overbearing. She checked in at just the right times and made sure everything was perfect.
Great food, great service, and a place I’ll definitely be coming back to. Highly recommend!

We recently checked out Scena, which has been open for less than two months, and overall had a really solid experience.
We were seated right away, and the hostess was friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was still pretty empty when we arrived, but the ambiance was great—clean, modern, and relaxed. We were seated in a comfortable booth with nice mood lighting that set the tone for the meal.
I ordered a Villa Prosecco, while Bree went with the non-alcoholic Amalfi Fizz. The first Prosecco was a bit of a letdown—somewhat flat and almost more like a Chardonnay—but the second glass was spot on, landing perfectly between sweet and dry.
The food was mostly excellent. The ciabatta bread bowl appetizer was outstanding, and the marinara dipping sauce was some of the best I’ve ever had.
The 12 oz New York steak was cooked perfectly and so tender I could cut it with a butter knife.
Unfortunately, the pesto chicken pizza missed the mark. It was very dry, had barely any pesto, and the dominant flavors were just cheese and dry chicken. I wouldn’t order it again.
Service was a highlight. Our waitress was super nice, attentive, and made us feel well taken care of throughout the meal. We came in around 5 and left a little after 6, and the place was still fairly quiet when we left.
Overall, I’d give Scena an 8/10. It would’ve been a 10 if the pizza had been executed better, but it feels like normal growing pains for a newer restaurant. We really hope this place makes it—and we’ll definitely be back.

Really surprised by this place. It’s visible that they opened recently and that they need a little bit more training, but overall it was very good. The cuisine is excellent, the place is big, the seating comfortable and of course, like all restaurants in this country they have music playing, but at least it isn’t too loud and you can speak and hear without shouting. We will definitively go back and maybe try their pizzas, the wood burning oven was very tempting.

Absolutely fantastic experience at Scena. The Burrata gnocchi and the salmon were both outstanding easily some of the best dishes we’ve had in a long time. Everything was perfect.
Our waiter, Lionel, made the night even better. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming without being overbearing.

Lovely restaurant. I went on a Monday night by myself (traveling for work) and asked to sit at the bar, which was completely empty. The host said “oh, you are going to love Kai the bartender, he’s great”. Well, I sat at the bar alone for nearly 12 minutes. Kai was busy making curated cocktails and never acknowledged me once. I finally asked one of the four idle waiters that kept walking by if it would be faster service if I sat a a table. After a little arguing, because “you’re sitting in Kai’s section”, he finally took my order. Since I ordered a cocktail, Kai decided to pay attention to me. The food came out quick and was delicious. I just don’t understand why I had to beg to be served.

Excellent new spot in La Mesa! We started off with some bread and mocktails along with their squash blossoms! It was all pretty good. The vibe is so chic and their staff is the sweetest. For mains we got the Penne Arrabbiata, Pesto chicken pizza and Filet Mignon which were all so yummy. Completed our meal with their lava cake and cant wait to go back!
