Scarpetta is LDV Hospitality’s signature restaurant concept that first launched in New York’s Meatpacking District. The Italian expression, “fare la scarpetta,” describes the gesture of taking the little boot-shaped piece of bread to soak up the remaining sauce left in the pot of one’s home kitchen. The restaurant’s name is derived from this familial gesture and represents the indulgent pleasure of savoring a meal down to its very last taste. In 2008, Scarpetta received a James Beard nomination for ‘Best New Restaurant in America’ as well as a coveted three-star review from the New York Times.
Handmade pastas headline a sophisticated Italian menu at this upscale locale with a cool vibe.

Peach Bellini was a beautiful + light dessert
We enjoyed the broccolini a lot.
We also tried the yellowtail, halibut, ravioli, and braised short rib. These were all good! But the above was exceptional.
My brother and his wife took us here to celebrate our engagement. The duck ravioli was incredible.
We were unable to get a clear estimate on when our table would be ready and were asked to wait in the bar area. We ended up waiting about 45 minutes, ordering drinks at the bar that were charged separately from the table. We were finally seated around 8:45 PM, at which point Scarpetta did a nice job making it right with complimentary drinks and hors d’oeuvres. By the time we finished dinner, the restaurant was about half empty, which added to the frustration of the earlier wait.
Food-wise, everything delivered. I had the agnolotti, while others ordered the sirloin, pumpkin gnocchi, and tagliolini nero—all excellent. Desserts were also delicious, and our server was fantastic, attentive, and polished throughout the meal.
Bottom line: the food is great and well worth visiting, but better front-of-house timing communication would go a long way. We were close to leaving for another restaurant due to the uncertainty. That said, I’d absolutely return and would expect a smoother seating experience next time.
