We wanted a good meal, seafood in particular and we ended up deciding on Saybrook Fish House.
I had the fried clam strips and the wife had the baked stuffed shrimp- both meals were good. The dinners came with great salads that included their own dressings. The were 2 voices, but a third option was to combine the two.
At the end of the meal, we were given a variety of different kinds of fruit, that were also good.
The only thing better than the food was the service. Our server, Alize (Allie – not sure of spelling) was one of the best we have ever had. She was both friendly and attentive. She offered me an extra tartar sauce and I declined. This went back and forth a couple of times/few times until I was scraping the last of my tartar sauce. At this point, she brought me a second tartar sauce just in the nick of time- and I was happy with her efforts. She knew that I was going to need it before I realized it.
Anyway, we found a go-to seafood restaurant that we can add to our rotation that doesn’t require us to drive to the shore.
I give this place an A+ and Allie earned a 6 star service rating to boot…
Thanks!

Great hometown feel. I started with fried artichokes, broccoli, and zucchini with a horseradish cream sauce for dipping. Next I was served a dinner/Cobb style salad served with a mini bottle of Italian style and a creamy parmesan type of salad dressing, nice touch. Next I had my main course of the Lobster & Shrimp Basilio served with the curly pasta, basically macaroni. It had artichokes, basil, garlic sun dried tomatoes, and parmesan sautéed in a white wine sauce which seemed like it was more butter than white wine, the seafood seemed a little dry so I took most of it to go so I could add some sauces to it to moisten it up, it was very good regardless. It also came with steamed vegetables which i took to go also. And, if this wasn’t enough, a fruit basket comes with this and I took it to go also. The service was great, the atmosphere was good, I totally recommend.

Tastefully decorated seafood restaurant. Scallops were perfectly cooked. Each meal is served with a large family style salad, baked potato, rice or fries as well as a large bowl of freshly steamed veggies. An added surprise was a fresh fruit basket to take home. Even though it was really busy, it was quiet enough to enjoy our meal and have great conversation. Great service as well.

Had a great meal as I like any kind of fishes. The whole belly clams are signature dish here. You can order anything packed with delicious seafood stuffing. We ordered Sole. It’s a lot of food. To start with, We were welcomed with a basket of bread and a salad bowl with two house made dressing tastes awesome.
For our entrees, we had sole , over rice. That also came with a bowl of veggies. You definitely won’t enjoy if you like spices and gravies. It was quality and healthy. The ambience is a little loud but it was good place to relax and have quiet conversation with friends or family. The worth mentioning is customer service. Due to crowd, I had to wait for some time to get the bill. But they were excellent starting from the beginning.
Overall, we both loved it and we will be back.

Very friendly staff. From the second you walk in, until you walk out. Everyone is just super nice. Food was amazing. Muscles, clams, crab legs, lobster. Delicious. No complaints. Hot towels to clean up after. Parking was convenient. New England clam chowder is definitely top notch here. Definitely a dine again place.

Had a great meal. Huge fan of whole belly clams and these were top notch. The stuffed clams were packed with a delicious seafood stuffing. It’s a lot of food, be prepared. My server, Natalie, was awesome! The warm almond scented towel at the end is a very nice touch.

I’m a couple weeks behind on this review, but felt it was worth doing. I don’t live in Hartford County anymore so I don’t get to come here as much as I used to. But I picked up two dinners from takeout here when I was visiting Glastonbury on a Sunday afternoon. Whole belly clam dinner w/ fries & an Admiral Platter dinner (one of my 3 go-to’s), served w fries & vegetables. I don’t know what it is about this place, but since the 90’s I have loved every single thing about it. And I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the fact that they have Not changed up their M.O. You don’t change a winner. Still good portions & still a great selection of steamed, baked & fried seafood. They are still serving the fruit basket at dessert & they STILL have not tinkered with what I consider to be the best salad–in particular the 2 house dressings–in the state. My wife & my mother both laugh at me because of the degree to which I look fwd to my SFH salad w/ creamy garlic or champagne vinaigrette. (Please, SFH, don’t Ever change Any of the above). I didn’t dine-in this particular time but have on many, MANY occasions…for a long period of time. It’s still a very pleasant & traditional atmosphere & ALL of the staff members/servers have always been friendly & likeable. I really look fwd to this place whenever I’m in town. So thankful they are still around. One of my absolute favorites.!

Fish and chips, which tasted the best I ever had on my Mom’s Birthday)and we have one full bath. The other just a toilet in the basement.
Everything was great and gave a $30 for a tip. More than usual as they tried to make my Mom’s 74th the best. Wanted a window seat, but they didn’t want to move the 2 seat table to the bay window and my Mother likes light, even if it was of the parking lot. Easier for her to see as well. But instead they did the best they could as it wasn’t aloud even the hour we were there. Other than that, it was a blast went to the Wethersfield Cove and the Sunset was amazing. Just a wonderful day. Night not so lucky. But that’s the risk when you eat from the ocean. Normal these days. All water from highways & roads gets drained into the Ocean and not far away into the ocean. Right down the river and into the sound. They used to have to dump 25 miles or further away from shore. Now I am not sure but know about mercury from big fish, and that we get most of our oxygen from the ocean. So they shouldn’t lie about how much Carbon Monoxide is in the air. That all goes into the ocean. Tires waste gets worn out, dripping oil because of old gaskets. Do they get fish from the sound, probably not. But I have been on the Black Hawk fishing boat in Niantic, CT and they catch fish and cut it up for the winners of the biggest fish. Fun, with a bar for people that can handle the motion. I can’t …but besides that 1st time it was fun. Where does SaybrookFH gets their fish ? I didn’t ask but they make it so good, just wish there was more of a portion. They are very busy, so I’m thinking they can’t store that much as it’s so lite and fluffy, but City Fish & Big Y if you want a lot of fried fish, but heavy and oily which is probably what makes it heavy. Very Good, but not as light and fluffy as Saybrook Fish House. Everything was good. I think it may have been something else, letting the leftovers sit out as they gave us more for her birthday and the bread was real good and still warm and fresh. Butter rectangles wrapped in Gold foil hard as a rock, but with warm bread it helped. Really my only complaint. I want butter one warm bread right away. Not after it thaws out. It’s straight out of the fridge. Need butter, or whipped butter at least.

It felt like an old school new England seafood restaurant. The ambiance, the decor, and food are reminiscent of a time in the past. I got the broiled deep bay scallops with brown rice. As well as the Rhode Island style calimari. Everything was very good. The waitress we had was one of the best I’ve ever heard. I wish I could remember the name.
