I was highly recommended this place as a prime example of Alabama BBQ. Being from Texas, he informed me that I havent tasted real BBQ until I’ve had SAW’s! I was excited to try it, but it was quite disappointing.
I got the combo plate so I could try the smoked chicken with “Alabama White Sauce” for the first time, and the pork. Unfortunately, it wasn’t worth the hype. The smoked chicken wasnt smokey at all and extremely dry. Thank goodness I had the white sauce or I’d have not been able to get through it! The white sauce was decent. The pork was mid, but better than the chicken. When it comes to food though the saving grace is the chicken wings! The incredibly helpful bartender recommended the wings so I got some to go and they were the highlight of the night. So if you do go, get the wings!!
The service and the atmosphere was great as well as the prices. Worth coming back for that and the wings!

Really enjoyed our time here! Katie took great care of us! She was helpful and patient and informative. It was my first time there and I thought the food was excellent! I especially loved the smoked wings! However, I was blown away by the banana pudding! Never had banana puddling like that before and now I’m hooked. I gotta figure out if they ship that pudding out of state that might be the best I’ve ever had! Next time I come back to Birmingham, I’ll definitely make time to stop by! A+++++ to management and staff!

So still a really good place to eat, but I would not recommend getting a family meal to go. $63 and we received a pint of pork that didn’t even equal a pound, a pint of mac & cheese and a pint of banana pudding for a 4 person family meal. Got two pieces of silverware and two small containers of sauce. No bread or buns etc. edited and changed to three stars because it really is good bbq.

3.8 stars. I have to say that the name threw me off of what I expected when I arrived. With that said, the place was busting at the seams with customers and staff busy shuffling food in and out of the kitchen. The bar area was buzzing on a Saturday night with live music that was obnoxiously too loud for the small space, making everyone talk louder and thus making the overall noise level uncomfortable. The food was quick to come out, and the fried green tomatoes were fabulous. The smoked chicken thighs were very good, cheese grits were mid, and the deviled eggs lacked any flavor at all. Ephraim did a great job working the room. Overall, it was a good meal at a reasonable price.

The great interior sets up a fun vibe that’s outmatched only by the superb service. Excellent food, served promptly and clearly made fresh.
Get the tea brined chicken sandwich, and add a side of the turnip greens and their perfect fried green tomatoes.

Traveling from South Carolina and I local stranger recommended this spot and I’m super glad they did it was absolutely delicious and the butterscotch bread pudding is so good your tongue will slap your forehead

This was on my list to visit since I’m from Chicago. Now the guy waited on me was very nice and helpful about their menu. I got the smoked wings and cheesy grits. The wings were overcooked and tough and not enough of the sauce but the grits were fantastic.

Madeileine and Jordan were AMAZING! Their attitudes were so nice and I wish we lived closer so we could be regulars. On top of that the fried pickles were amazing. Packed with flavor. They got cold after I ate my entree and were still crunchy and delicious. We got a loaded baked potato and a pork sandwich with okra. 10/10. I am a very honest review person and send food back if it isn’t good (just being very honest) and this place is top pick for me for BBQ now and I eat tons of it. If you live a bit far away make the DRIVE! Ask for either one of them I was so delighted to have a date with my husband tonight here and we will be back for more dates! Don’t forget to check their websites for their specials Mondays are 5$ drafts and they have a special happy hour between I think 3-6 2$ off wells 5$ drafts & 2.50$ domestics a steal!
