We drove from DSM after seeing a post about a cake they prepared–not knowing anything about the other foods they offered. We ended up not getting any cake (it was 9am) but had breakfast instead. Everything was WONDERFUL! We got a perfectly flakey tomato/gruyère pastry, the roasted red pepper tomato soup, and the Little Italy toast. Holy flavor combo–Wow! We also got a chocolate chip cookie, a cardamom rose latté, and a honey wheat sourdough loaf to take home. Look, I don’t even like bread but I couldn’t leave without it. The flavor, the chew, the crumb, the crust…I’m blown away. Whoever is coming up with these flavor amalgamations is a genius! No wonder it was so packed. I also love the big gathering table in the middle. It’s a great place for big groups or a bunch of strangers to come together and enjoy Savor the Rise. They know what they’re doing. That’s for sure!

Submitting 5 stars for only two visits (once on a Monday morning and once on a Saturday morning) should typically appear as naive. However, our first visit was an early Monday morning, about 90 minutes after STR opened the door. The energy of the environment flowed perfectly with the employee’s mountain high introduction and salesmanship. On our second visit, we were the first customers to enter at 0800 exactly. We had no idea that a flood of families and solo customers would almost similar to a horde would appear within an hour. It all makes perfect sense. The employees, the location, the music, the lighting, the seating, the energy and ok..ok..ok the drinks and the food are not what you would ever expect out of a 16k population town in Iowa. There is a reason we drove 40 minutes round trip for this breakfast, but both times have naturally achieved more and they will forever be experiences. Not many restaurants will be able to speak to what Savor the Rise accomplishes. (I’m quite course on my reviews, because if I can create the same recipe and outcome at home, I don’t leave a review)

Such a cute little shop! The cinnamon roll latte and raspberry pastry that I had were wonderful. The barista that waited on me was so kind and patient with me asking questions and giving me recommendations. Will be back the next time I’m in town. Thank you for such a great experience! ☕️

If you’ve never been, you’re missing out. The best coffee, homemade baked goods, and service in town. A wonderful local escape with a comfortable environment and warm friendly staff.
Savor The Rise is more than a bakery or coffee shop it’s an experience. If you haven’t been, I suggest you sit in the window on a sunny day and sip on a cortado. The music, the conversation, the amazing coffee and service, but most importantly the community. Thank you for making Indianola great!

I went in this morning and got a latte, “the dad” croissant, 2 danishes and 2 cinnamon rolls and all of it was fantastic! I forgot to take a picture of the rest of the food! Amazing atmosphere! I will definitely be coming back!

An absolute hidden gem! This charming spot is welcoming, unique, and serves delicious treats that bring smiles to everyone. My daughter said it fills her with happiness—and I couldn’t agree more. The dad sandwich is insanely good and the twice baked almond croissant was the best I’ve had in years! Savor the Rise is a truly special place!

Enjoyed avocado toast, coconut cake and coffee here last week. Love the cozy atmosphere! Staff are very nice and accommodating. The barista “hotted “ my ceramic coffee cup ! Something I do at home to keep my coffee hot longer. The coffee was tasty for self serve. Avocado toast was very flavorful and served on a vintage plate. I love these details! Arrived shortly after 9:00 on a Friday. Slim pickings for pastry. Fresh batch out before I left. Definitely return!

The wait staff were very gracious and our overall meal was delicious, but prices were a bit high.
When I looked at my thoughtfully plated toast, it felt like it was lacking an additional item for the cost.
And while my latte was good, the banana mocha flavor was non-existent, which was sad.
I would visit again, though!
