Sausage Deli has been serving fresh, over-sized sandwiches for over 48 years. In 1978, the deli started out as a hot spot for UA students, but in recent years, people from all over Tucson travel to our Grant & 1st Ave location for our truly original deli sandwich. Sit in our relaxing dining room or belly up to the bar with a HOT Omar sub and ice cold beer and you’ll be hooked. Patio seating also available. Pick up orders are welcomed. First time here. The meun prices online are very different. Service rushed us to order with no one behind us. It was a basic, simple place inside. I thought the word “deli” would indicate the food i was getting. The food was okay. Nothing more, nothing less. I probably won’t go back because I can get all these sandwiches at home for a lot cheaper. I also would pass on all the side dishes. It didn’t seem like they made them there. It was tasted like Fry’s.

It was my first time coming here, so expectations were a bit high based on what I’ve seen online. I left disappointed. For the good, the service was extremely fast and it’s a clean spot to eat. The side order of crinkle cut fries were fresh and toasty. Starting off with the bad, upon unwrapping both sandwiches, they had a soggy appearance even though we ate it on site. I can only imagine how much more soggy it would have gotten had I taken it home. Next, they were extremely thin. See the banana for scale for a girth comparison. Taste wise, the Black Dog sub was good, but the Bismarck Sub had a bit too much yellow mustard.

Good flavor and fast service. Decent amount of ingredients on my BLT sandwich for even flavor. Bread was soft n fresh. Was surprised that it wasn’t toasted but it was my first time there so I guess I should ask next time. Bread fell apart as I ate the sandwich. Not because it got soggy but because I had the marbled rye and the different colors separated. Not sure how I’d fix that next time.
