I stumbled into Satsuma Sushi around 8 p.m. after a long day on the road. I’d just gotten a haircut next door at Atmos and happened to notice this little sushi bar tucked into the strip mall. No big sign out front, just a small “reservations only” note in the window. I was about to leave, thinking I’d missed my shot, when a couple walked out grinning ear to ear. I asked them how it was and they said it was some of the best sushi they’d ever had. That was enough for me.
I walked in, no reservation, but there was only one other table. The sushi chef welcomed me, was super friendly, and took great care of me. I ended up housing over $100 worth of sashimi, every single piece was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. This place knows what it’s doing.
A few heads-up: call ahead if you can, and don’t be surprised if the staff seems a little busy or direct. They’re running a tight ship and doing the best they can with limited help. Honestly, I respect the hustle. Times are tough but the quality here is on point.
I’ll be back 100% next time I’m in Rancho. If you love sushi, this is the spot.

Freshest fish, finest specialties, traditional and fusion fantasies. You will not find finer than Koji-san and his team present.

The Sashimi deluxe special containes Toro and bluefin tuna along with other types of fish that are of the highest quality that I have tasted here in California. The intense flavor of both their Sashimi and sushi stays with you even after leaving the restaurant.
